SBC should be whoring out to get those slots. This mixed with the MWC BB inventory that ESPN is losing too should be priority#1 over any Bowl game deals that are still pending. In fact work into it the bowl pool deal with ESPN

And what reason do you say this? Because he wasn't willing to stiff two independent bowl committees by letting App get a Belk bowl invite? NOLA and Mobile are working on contracts that were made before Gill and are two of the very few G5 independent Bowls that aren't controlled by ESPN. To piss that away would be wildly irresponsible and an ******* move to the other 9 FB members.

Curious, just exactly how could have APP ave gotten a Belk Bowl invite? Both ACC and SEC filled the tie-ins.

Wouldn't have. Still have app fans mad at Gill for whatever reason for not cheerleading for App to the CFP. App's #1 athletic cheerleader (the AD) wasn't either.

The Belk Bowl was in talks with the Sun Belt right up until the bowls were announced. Predictably the NO Bowl didn't want to give up having a ranked team, but there was also the allure of possibly having having two Louisiana teams selling a lot of tickets.
