RE: ACC Bowl Tie-in 2020-25
My guess with First Responder being moved to Boston, would mean that Wrigley bowl is still in Play... Rumor is that the PAC-12 Las Veags bowl will now split between SEC/BIG.... So Wrigley could be the 43rd Bowl with PAC-12/SEC vs BIG... Just a guess

RE: ACC Bowl Tie-in 2020-25
The Holiday Bowl offers one of the more desirable bowl locales along with a payout in excess of $3 million to each of the participants. (6.33M total)

The Holiday Bowl currently gets the second pick of Pac-12 teams and third pick of Big Ten teams (after College Football Playoff teams are selected) for its game. That puts the Holiday among the upper half of bowl selections for the respective conferences.

Getting slotted below the Sun would be.. well pretty insulting.... I guess maybe they will reduce the payout... or you should have them slotted higher!

IIRC, there has never been an ETZ school to play in the Holiday Bowl. NC State has not played on the West Coast since playing at UCLA in 1959 and 1961 so a trip to SD would be welcomed.

RE: ACC Bowl Tie-in 2020-25
Las Vegas Bowl to move up Pac-12 pecking order in 2020, per report via Brett McMurphy, the bowl would move to the new NFL stadium and occupy the conference’s third slot.Where the Sun Bowl fits. I know most of you probably aren’t worried about El Paso... The Pac-12 rumor is basically stating the ACC & the Sun Bowl may end... it may become PAC12 vs BIG12...

Here’s our best guess at what this now all looks like in 2020...At the end of his article, McMurphy says the Pac-12 will have eight bowl tie-ins, so ...

Rose Bowl vs. Big Ten #1
Alamo Bowl vs. Big 12 #2
Las Vegas Bowl vs. SEC Tier 2 (#7-ish?) or Big Ten #4(?)
Holiday Bowl vs. ACC Tier 1 (#5-ish?)
Redbox Bowl vs. Big Ten Tier 2 (#6-ish?)
Los Angeles Bowl vs. MWC #1
Sun Bowl vs. ???
Cheez-It Bowl vs. Big 12 #6

I would not be shocked if the Holiday Bowl drops to fifth, nor would I be shocked if the Sun Bowl replaces the Cheez-It Bowl with the same tie-ins. I’d have a hard time imagining the Sun Bowl remaining ahead of the Los Angeles Bowl.

Another local sports writer has the ACC vs Pac-12 in both the Sun & Holiday....

All in all, the Pac-12 should have seven matchups against Power Five opponents for the 2020-2025 cycle of games.

Here’s the evolving, unofficial lineup:

1. Rose Bowl vs. Big Ten (or CFP/New Year’s Six)
2. Alamo Bowl vs. Big 12
3/4. Holiday Bowl vs. ACC
4/3. Las Vegas Bowl vs. Big Ten/SEC
5. Redbox Bowl vs. Big Ten
6. Sun Bowl vs. ACC
7. Los Angeles Bowl vs MWC
8. Cactus Bowl vs. Big 12

If that’s the shape of the final product, it will be an undeniable upgrade. — Jon Wilner

So with this nugget the ACC might be looking at having the Holiday Bowl replace the SUN (ACC vs PAC-12) matchup, Or maybe the PAc-12 and Sun relationship ends and the ACC can take on a Big-12 Team!!

My predictions w/out SUN BOWL

1. Orange (ESPN)
1a. Outback when Big Ten gets Orange slot. (ABC/ESPN)

Top Tier
Campus World vs B12 (ESPN)

Mid Tier (3-6)
Holiday vs P12 (FOX)

Lower Tier (7-11)
Military vs AAC (ESPN)
Detroit vs B10 (ESPN)
Boston vs AAC (ESPN)
Independence vs SEC (ESPN)
Birmingham vs SEC (ESPN)

Backup slots
Dallas or Tampa or Sun

My predictions w/SUN BOWL

1. Orange (ESPN)
1a. Outback when Big Ten gets Orange slot. (ABC/ESPN)

Top Tier
Campus World vs B12 (ESPN)

Mid Tier (3-7)

Apparently someone forgot to tell Mr. Bowlsby about the Sun Bowl.

"The Big 12 bowl affiliations are staying the same, commissioner Bob Bowlsby said Thursday.

The Big 12 will remain tied to the Alamo, Camping World, Texas, Liberty, Cheez-It and Armed Forces bowls. The hierarchy will remain the same.

Bowlsby said the contract between the conference and each bowl game runs through the College Football Playoff’s current deal through the 2025 season.

The exception is the Texas Bowl, which expires a couple years before that. Bowlsby wasn’t exactly sure of the year."

RE: ACC Bowl Tie-in 2020-25
Read in some of the articles floating around on the new bowl contracts that the ACC will play in the Gasparilla Bowl against the SEC. Any significant rumors around the ACC on that bowl. That would mean the AAC is loosing that bowl in the next round. Also, anytime frame by the ACC on announcing their 2020 -2025 bowl contracts and affiliations. Believe the G5 conferences are waiting on the ACC announcement to see what is left to finalize some of their bowl commitments since the other P5 conferences have made official announcements about their bowl affiliations for the 2020 - 2025 cycle already. 04-cheers

Gasparilla makes sense. I hope the ACC is involved in some capacity. I'd dump Detroit and add a 2nd bowl in Tampa

Read that the ACC is out of Detroit. That bowl has aligned the MAC with the B-10 for the next cycle. The early rumor by Stadium was that the AAC would replace the ACC (don't know if the ACC dumped this bowl or what happened), but I have read since that the contract against the B-10 was returned and signed with the MAC for the full 2020 - 2025 cycle. Makes sense as the MAC travels well to that bowl. Its in their back yard. Its like driving to a regular season regional conference game during the season. 07-coffee3

Yep the Ford family squeezed Littler Ceaser out of the bowl (BIG/MAC) Maybe Little Ceasser should sponsor the Boston Bowl

PAC 12 Bowl is not Official yet.... so the PAC12 vs ACC in the INDY is not a sure thing...

One wrinkle in the upcoming bowl grid – a game must have a conference tie-in on both sides, therefore a Power-Five versus an at large will no longer fly.
Group of Five conferences like the American and Conference USA may be options, but a matchup among such conferences isn’t likely to appease Walk-On’s, a Louisiana company rapidly infiltrating other regions. The company, staring at a contract option after this year’s game, signed on to score a marquee TV matchup (named programs/conferences) and exposure in major markets.
