Virginia is also struggling with the transition of how to handle top 100 HS talent they sign, who then get drafted and never matriculate, leaving holes in the recruiting class that are too late to fill.
I only wish Rice still had that problem (I know in another age and time, James Taillon was a Rice commit, but he was so good no one thought he would come to college, and they were right). Someone noted there was no one from or committed to Rice is in the top 200 potential draftees as listed from MLB.com, except Canterino. That is about 6+ rounds. You can make a great college team with HS kids from about round 3 and below who instead go to college, and we are just not in that league, these days.
