RE: Being Reported Jarron Will Return
are we sure Logan is gone? Notice his twitter says "RIP Uncle Creighton" so if it was a care/hospice scenario the circumstances may have changed.

Obviously he has to do whatever is best for his family and himself. Selfishly I was looking forward to his UC career. Has the DNA of a Bearcat in his game.

His Twitter said that all season I believe. Or at least for awhile

Trevor Moore will be Most Improved next year. You heard it here first. Just call me Corryville Jim. And if I’m right, we will be a really tough out.

With Cronin everyone stays, we get Samari and we have a top 15 team. I'm sure Cumberland prefers the possibility of not even making the NCAA tournament with this current team.

You're right, we'd be top 15 during the year and lose in the first weekend in the tournament after being outscored.

I don't know if we'd be Top 15 with Cronin. Last season, when the AP poll came out on Feb 18th, we were 21-4 and unranked. They were seeded 7th in the tourney going 28-6. I got the vibe the voters and committee had pretty much caught on to what Mick was.

We were not the dominating team last year as we were in 2018. We won many close games many helped by clutch shots and play by Jenifer and Broome. So how well they would have been replaced by Johnson and Samari was a big question on our success next year. Brannen's roster is not finalized so there are big question marks there also. Just all speculative about which team would be better next year. About the only sure thing in my opinion is that our schedule next year will be much tougher than 2019.

True - Broome made some clutch shots. But let's also recognize he was the cause for some of those games being close.

Broome took a lot of ill-Advised shots that led to opponent rebounds. They did not show up in the stat sheet as turnovers...but they were effectively turnovers. It drove me crazy watching it...I will not be missing him on the court.

Perhaps overly harsh... but here's a comparison of recent 2-year guard transfers. You be the judge

Player A: 65 games, 25.4 min, 9.6 pts, 1.5 ast, 1.2 stl, 2.2 reb, 3-pt % 36.6, FT% 80.8
Player B: 69 games, 20.9 min, 8.1 pts, 2.5 ast, 0.8 stl, 1.6 rebm 3-pt% 33.3. FT% 73.2

Player A = Farad Cobb (2014-16)
Player B = Cane Broome (2017-19)

Cobb was arguably the better player...and I don't recall many/any Bearcat fans missing him on the court after he left.

Cobb was more of a shooter and Broome was more of a slasher. Very similar production. Solid bench players. At any rate, I would fee better about this team if we had at least one true PG on the roster. I think Jarron can run it, but it also might wear him out over the course of the season.

Cobb was better stat wise than Jenifer also for career. He also played on teams that had a balance of inside scoring potential which we did not have last year and which was a big reason for all the close games. Broome had some nice games down the stretch and no doubt our season might have taken a different turn if we had not pulled out the game against Tulsa which had followed our loss at East Carolina. My point is that Broome and Jenifer provided three point threats last year that helped Cumberland ...maybe someone liked Cobb would have been even better. Johnson and Curtis both could have become very good to great players for us ; just uncertain that you could anoint next years team as top fifteen with them as Jarron's running mates (really unsure if we would have had enough outside shooting potential). It is all speculation we could be better next year without them if we pick up someone like Jaevin Cumberland but really miss not having them in future years if Brannen's recruiting classes are sub-par. So many variables maybe Moore and Hardnett step up and provide some consistent scoring or maybe Jaevin or another grad transfer would have still come in with Curtis and Johnson had Mick stayed to add stability to their probable youthful inconsistencies.

Ive been watching his instagram videos and he never misses a shot, but...in a game situation he would get the ball stolen from him everytime with the way he dribbles so far away from his body. Love that hes working on his game, but man I just cant see it

One thing that always drove me nuts about Cronin was that he would play Evans, Clark, Caupain (our studs) at w/e position even when we were blowing the doors off teams for far too many minutes. I'm hoping Brannen lets guys like Moore and Diarra play huge minutes against the lower level teams so that they can get some confidence. I know that they always say you get better against better competition but for a lot of guys, they need the opportunity to try stuff that may or may not work without the pressure of it being a 1 score game that will knock them out of the tournament if they mess up. I think Moore is one of those guys. Let him play 30 minutes against Stoney Brook and give him the green light. Tell him you want him to take 10 3's by the end of the game no matter what.

Maybe playing for a coach that doesn't clench up after every mistake will benefit Moore.

I think Cane would have been awesome under Brannen. Cronin's slow tempo, defense oriented system was an odd fit with two undersized guards.

Mick seemed to feel the need to tell our PG what to do coming up court on almost every play. Stop micro managing every play.

I am appreciative of Mick and what he did here, but I think the way his teams would play streaky and lack fluidity and confidence at times were a product of his coaching style and how he handled his guys. I'm looking forward to seeing what empowerment from Brannen's system might do for these guys. I think there's a really strong chance these guys will be drastically different than in previous years.

Agree with all these posts. Confidence and staying in a good rhythm are so important, especially for "finesse" players. A coach can just ruin them with lots of screaming and a quick hook. Practice is time to jump their sh_t; games are for playing loose and having fun, with a light hand from the bench.
