RE: Maybe Texas St has an at-large chance
Those stolen bids yesterday hurt.
Cincinnati, Ohio State, Southern Miss and Loyola Marymount all stole bids.
That might be enough to keep the Bobcats at home.

Not optimistic, but not going to be upset about it either .. . . . we stunk it up down the stretch, and failed to show for the conference tournament.

RE: Maybe Texas St has an at-large chance
Good year for the Sun Belt overall. Unfortunately it was one of those seasons where we all beat each other and there was no one dominant team.
The good news for next season is... only 6 of the 14 players that were named First Team All-Sun Belt were seniors, and only 5 of 14 on the Second Team. There seems to be a lot of returning top players around the league, so long as they don't get drafted.
Troy is only losing 4 players this season, only 2 of which were starters. We return all three starting pitchers, most of the batting lineup, our best closing pitcher, and all of the relief pitching. It might be a fun year for the Trojans next seasons.

The TCU pick is a head scratcher... Not saying we were more deserving than any of the other teams not selected, but TCU had no business being selected over any of the first 4 out and several others!

Agree. That pick is so bad on so many levels. 32-26 record, RPI of 59, sub-.500 conference record....the wrong team from Texas was chosen for that spot.

I can understand the TCU pick. They were 12-14 vs. Top 50 teams. They had a win over #1 Vanderbilt, and won the series over #13 West Virginia during the season. Plus their performance in the Big 12 Tournament is what likely got them in.

The AAC should lose all of its bids for allowing an Ohio team to win the tournament.

RE: Maybe Texas St has an at-large chance
TCU pick is an awful pick. Not a huge fan of Florida and Florida State getting in either.
TCU was 11-13 in the big 12 and had a 59 RPI. Florida was 13-17 in the SEC but certainly had the RPI. I'd be pissed if I was Missouri and got left out yet Florida gets in though. I really think FSU only got in just so their coach can retire without having ever missed a regional also.
All that said, I had us out too. So not saying we deserved in. Just sucks to think that just 1 more win likely would have gotten us in. Thinking of some of the losses we had this year: 5-4 loss to Baylor after blowing a 9th inning save opportunity and having them down to their final strike and they get a hit on a defensive swing, losing to App early in conference play on Sunday when it was snowing out to fail to sweep that series and losing for the first time ever to them, losing a game at home to GSU, bullpen falling apart early in the season vs. Corpus Christi, early season 6-5 loss to a top 25 RPI Creighton after falling 5-0 early in that game and clawing back to almost win it, AD fumbling travel plans and making the team bus overnight to Little Rock then losing 4-3 to open that series, our #2 pitcher throwing a complete game and losing 1-0 to USA, the two games we had rained out and not made up this year could have been RPI boosters in Baylor and Texas, and of course, what everyone will focus on, going 0-2 as the 1 seed in the tourney. Just convert ONE of those into a win and we're probably in right now. Ugh...

And yeah. UConn, FAU, and Nebraska all hosed us yesterday by losing.

Yeah, I think the 8-0 loss to ULM was the game that probably cost us the NCAA Tournament. Kind of similar to the 63-60 loss to ULM at home in basketball, which cost us a share of the conference title and an NIT bid. Throw in the three consecutive losses to ULM in football and it is easy to see what the goal for Texas State needs to be next season in all sports...Beat ULM!

But it’s more than just ULM . . . .
Go back and look at how we closed out the basketball season. On at least two occasions we had our fate in our own hands, and we closed out the regular season 6-5.
Baseball same thing, last 11 games, much on the line, we close out 6-5, then no show in the tournament.
Good teams find a way to finish. Yes, ULM has been a thorn in our side, but more than that, with much on the line, we’ve failed to finish . .
... we’ve simple faded away . . . which is fine if you’re a retiring General, but sucks if you’re trying to win a championship of any kind.

I agree. I am more or less pointing out how effective their athletic department is on a budget of $14 million versus how ineffective we are with a budget of $36 million (2017-2018 athletic budgets). There is a culture of failure that has developed that needs to change in the Bobcat athletic program. Maybe the new football coach can change it, but it needs to change.

No argument from me.
Think a lot of us are hoping for Spav’s success. Just don’t know how successful he can be with Larry in the background hamstringing him . . .

We’ll definitely take that as a compliment. You guys deserve better final success. You have everything going for your program. We don’t. I do like the direction our athletic programs seem to be heading though. Basketball, softball, football, and men’s golf seem to be trending up with some good hires. Not near there yet, but definitely heading the right direction.
