Plans moving forward?
Okay. I’ll play.
“How do you bring back into the fold the donors that you’ve alienated with your Tony Shaver decision? Are there any plans in this regard, or are they a casualty of your plans, just like Shaver was? What do you say to those people who’s faith in your judgment is so shaken by your Shaver decision that they are skeptical as to any of your future plans?”
This issue is the elephant in the room. It has to be addressed.
There will be enough of us William and Mary graduates in attendance that this issue will be addressed, in one way or another, as a result of various questions that can be asked.
How this forum is handled, not necessarily how each question is answered, is going to say a lot.
After all, we have the wallets, and we have to be convinced to open them.
The school was in the power position re: Tony. The school is not in the power position at the Town Hall.

Okay ...so when Huge answers that the athletic department will be allocating XXX new resources to basketball and YYY new facilities, etc etc --- then the followup question should be: "Great! Why weren't those improvements made available when Shaver was still here?"
Seems to me that Huge is very likely to be committing substantial new resources to MBB in order for Fischer to have any fighting chance at all of succeeding and, of course, to CYA herself.

I'm curious what you would see as appropriate and satisfactory answers to these questions. Is there a good answer that doesn't end with "I made a catastrophically poor decision, and I hereby tender my resignation"?

“Are you asking, if I could have a do-over relative to certain aspects of the termination, would I do certain things differently? Yes. Are you asking whether I’ve reached out and spoken to Tony and his family in the past several weeks? Yes.”
That would satisfy me. I don’t need the details. I do need an acknowledgment that mistakes were made. A slice of humble pie needs to be served.
The school can’t proceed as if all is well, and nothing happened here. This school can’t afford a split fan base, especially if the fault line is generational. There’s got to be an acknowledgment in some fashion.

How about releasing the OTOD numbers and saying, “I get the message ... this matter could have been handled better ... I’ve reached out to the Shaver family”.

Regardless of your opinion of the Shaver firing (we all nearly agree it was a mistake), expecting her to throw the new coach under the bus by saying she made a mistake on it is lunacy and would be horrendous management.

What kind of response can she give to the why did you fire Shaver question that would be satisfactory?
I think that’s kind of the point.

The answer nj alum gave doesn't reflect on the new coach at all. It would show that Huge admits that she didn't handle the firing properly at least in some regards.

RE: Athletics Town Hall Meeting with Huge
How much does the early termination of Shaver cost W&M financially? What other prospective actions were considered in allocating these financial resources and why was terminating Shaver a superior decision for W&M MBB?
Which players and recruits did the decision to remove Shaver change the status in returning vs leaving/enrolling? In which direction?
What positive goals do you expect MBB to achieve next year that are facilitated by this change? Over the next 3 years?
What is different in the situation between giving Laycocke a last year and not giving Shaver a last year that you considered?

Very good questions. Can't wait to hear the answers!! If she actually answer them.

You obviously were not good in math!
:-)
We are limited to one question, not seven! This is so that someone like you doesn’t get on a roll, and fire off seven questions which illustrate the unsound nature of the decision.

Did your AD cherry pick questions or answer all reasonable questions? Were there any questions about conference affiliation?

Hopefully, the AD will take all questions, and that is one I intend to ask after the Shaver questions are answered.

RE: Athletics Town Hall Meeting with Huge
I will be attending but I will be shocked if we hear much discussion about Shaver. Giving any details about the Shaver termination would create too many HR issues and possibly legal/defamation issues.
In my four decades in a management position, I was never permitted to speak a word about a termination to anyone who was not totally involved with the decision. I think most attendees tonight will be disappointed and frustrated with the subject matter tonight, but maybe Huge will surprise me.
