Better yet - expand the tourney to 8 teams.
Agree about the loser bracket. No reason why the loser bracket shouldn't be re-seeded like the winner bracket is. UTRGV got hosed on that one.
Disagree about 8 teams getting in, no need for it IMO given the amount of regular season games played as well as the advantage the byes give the top two teams in the conference.

This team is scrappy, I'll give them that. I have no idea who will be available to pitch tomorrow. Hell of a game from Gibbons in game 2, he looked terrible in the limited action he has seen this season.

GCU spanked NMSU. NMSU looked shell shocked from all the runs that GCU put on the board. Terrible move by NMSU's coach to not pull the SP sooner. That really cost them the game.
I was hoping the losing team would have to dig into their bullpen a bit more, but that wasn't the case. Tall order for the Hornets tomorrow.

Nelsen is doing great things at Sac State for both academics and athletics. I'm glad we hired him.

Hroach was 10-0 coming into the game so I can see why the Aggie's coach would have faith in him. Hroach also had GCU's number for most of the game. It was a great pitching duel until the late innings.

Great game for the WAC last night. Competitive baseball, excellent crowd. Lots of fun! Should be another great day of baseball today. Hopefully, GCU ends it tonight and there is no need to go to a Sunday game.

He fell apart when hit got around 90 pitches in. He was finally pulled at 100 pitches. Also GCU getting base runners really thew Hroach off his game. Credit to GCU for making things happen.

The eliminators (Sac State) take out NMSU 6-4 in 10 innings. They have now personally eliminated every single team in the tournament except GCU. Great feel good story. If I was not a GCU fan, I'd be cheering them on to complete their storybook run.

Surprising result. I thought NMSU would win the WAC. Sac State just swept two from GCU last Friday, so it can be done. But GCU has looked really good in all three games. It will be interesting.

Im not sure Sac St is as fresh with their pitching to pull it off 2 DH in 2 days is a lot to ask for a team to go 4-0.

Yup, Sac State sent home NMSU and the WACPlayeroftheYear Nick Gonzalez. I guess the question of Sac State pitching vs NMSU hitting was answered, at least for this year.
Our bullpen has to be on fumes at this point of the tourney. We'll see how it goes tonight. GCU looked damn good when they spanked NMSU last night. A repeat performance tonight and GCU will be forming a dog-pile on the mound in a few hours.

Sacramento State is just loaded with good pitching. If you combined Sacramento's pitching staff with New Mexico State's hitters, that's a College World Series team right their.

New Mexico State beat GCU 2 out of 3 on the road.
New Mexico State beat Sacramento State 2 out of 3 on the road.
New Mexico State won the WAC Regular Season Championship.
I disagree. I don't think the question was answered. NMSU had a successful season. It's tough we couldn't repeat in Phoenix but that doesn't change the fact the recent success has improved our recruiting high school kids. NMSU has an impressive incoming freshman recruiting class, and have several commits from current juniors. We are also landing the top prep talent in the state of New Mexico. It's an exciting time for Aggie baseball fans.

It's answered. One team is still playing, the other is not. No doubt NMSU (and GCU and GCU) had amazing regular seasons as they all share the regular season title. It was well deserved by all three programs...
...but this is no doubt a disappointing finish for NMSU. They didn't even reach the championship game(s) after piling up a massive amount of wins. The WACT disappointment does not take away from am outstanding regular season. I believe Sac State had an equally disappointing performance in 2012.
NMSU will no doubt be fine in the future. Rock solid program.

Hornets pull off a walk off win against GCU in the 11th. The resilience of this Hornet team is something else. I'm speechless at this point. Winner take all tomorrow, and I have no idea where the Hornet pitching will come from.

It's disappointing but it still was a successful season. We led the nation in batting average, hits, and runs, and finished 8th in the nation in home runs.
Sacramento State does have some good pitching, but still only managed to go 2-2 vs NMSU this season.
