RE: Midnight Madness Thread
Jarron Cumberland walked passed us up at Corry and Short Vine in the afternoon yesterday, and he was wearing an air cast. He looks to be about 15 pounds lighter than last year. We sat in the upper deck about mid court at Madness and the sound system sounded fine up there. I know in this age of Title IX you gotta do this stuff, but all the time devoted to the women's team is brutal. Most of the crowd rolled in from Nippert, and were pretty well spent by the time the men started scrimmaging. Looked like they had more guys with basketball skills out there, and there are lots of new faces. Diarra looks like a totally different dude, in a good way.....I think Bearcat fans are very happy to have John Brannen as the basketball coach.

I'd expect Jaevin and Zak to get significant minutes and scoring opportunities. Jaevin has a very good stroke, and a lot of experience. Someone told me Brannen's comment about them having a full practice yesterday afternoon was correct, so last night they likely were not very fresh. I'd expect a lot of up and down the court. I wonder what Prince's injury is? Maybe hernia or groin? Nobody seems to know. He wasn't limping from what i saw.

I vaguely recall hearing it might be an eligibility issue (hopefully) getting worked out.

Brannen says it's medical but doesn't specify further

Agree with the earlier post about Jaevin having a nice stroke. He will be a great compliment to his cousin when the defense is focused on Jarron. With those two plus Keith Williams and Zach Harvey, we will not lack scoring options from the wings.

RE: Midnight Madness Thread
I watched the midnight madness and I thought Treyvon Scott looked a little more athletic than he did last year.

Harvey looks like he could be something in the future.

Sorolla and Vogt seemed like they fit in just fine and played a little better than I had expected.

Jaevin looks like he is going to have a good year and I could see a couple of big games from him when his shot is falling.

Diarra looks a lot bigger physically than last year and looks like he has the green light to step outside and shoot. I expect big things from him in the future.

Hard to tell playing against each other but I think we are going to have a good team this year and hopefully they can gel and improve throughout the season.

RE: Midnight Madness Thread
I mentioned this on another post but a buddy of mine told me that Prince Toyambi appeared to have lost like 30 or more pounds. Maybe this is what he might be held out for and maybe doctors trying to find out the cause. I'd rather we pray for his health than worry about when he'll play. I hope he returns sometime soon and gets healthy. Coach Brannen did mention it was medical issue before the event.

Chris McNeal looked like a guy that knows how to get to the basket during the scrimmage. Excited to see what kind of value he can add off the bench this season.

He showed some quickness that we haven't had in a PG since Cash Wright.

He showed he could get to the basket when nobody was interested in playing D and he was guarded by a freshman. There wasn't enough time or defense (or offense) played to take much of anything from the scrimmage. Especially not enough to start comparing McNeal to Cash Wright.

Regardless of defense, his quickness was apparent. Something JJ and Caupain both lacked, IMO. I was not implying he would be the next coming of Cash Wright. Although, I hope he is. I still wonder what Cash would have done here if he could have gotten 100% healthy.
