RE: Cameron Brown to St Joes
This might be different if we were in a different conference like the A10, but unfortunately we are not. St. Joe’s firing Martelli has not prevented them from getting a player like Cameron to replace the player that left them for Providence. It’s time for Dane to get a player to replace Cameron. As far as Chase and LJ are concerned, I’m guessing if they get a call from someone like Roy Williams, they will be gone and will happily sit one year to play three. Clearly we are plan B for them as well. Dane should give them a deadline to either recommit or leave by the end of this week. Luke gave him the courtesy of recommitting weeks ago...they should do the same now or leave. If they don’t want to be here with Dane and the new staff, then it is time to move on NOW!

I don't know that Dane has the luxury of playing hard ball with Chase and LJ. Just remember that we're done with classes and exams are going on. I expect to hear from both of them within a week anyway.

Just saw that one of the new assistant coaches at St. Joe’s was Cameron’s old coach at Roosevelt. If that is accurate then Dane had no chance.

Straughn, a Roosevelt alum, was last an assistant at Roosevelt for Brown's freshman year. He was an assistant at Loyola MD last year. Certainly helped to open the door for St. Joe's, but I wouldn't say Dane had no chance. Not when Julian, his lead original contact, was still here.
