You cut your parents completely out of the picture at age 18?

Don't be a d!ck. Players come to a school largely for the coach, so naturally things get squirrelly immediately after a coaching change. I would bet that Brooks comes back. You'll be calling him a stiff again soon enough.

Also, I think he actually has a legal guardian, so there's no reason for the scare quotes.

Isn't Brooks a 22-year old man? Adults don't usually have guardians, unless they are mentally retarded or psychotic.

Don't be an a$$hole. He's a college kid. It's his family. This is Brooks's life, he's not just here so you can root for your favorite team.

And I don't know if anyone has told you in the past decade or so, but you should not say "mentally retarded," it's insensitive.

I don’t think you want to be the guy right after the GUY. You want to be the guy after the guy after the GUY. Maybe now some real healing can begin with that final splinter removed. Maybe now we can move forward as a United fan base, and support the team without reservations. I like a clean slate, but make no mistake the cupboard is not bare. Great things can be unveiled in Clifton next Winter.

I agree. Looks like Brooks is gone, Cumberland is up in ther air and so is Curtis. Without those three there is going to be the need grab as many high impact players as possible.

Where are you getting this info?

Brooks - Can’t say but I believe the source
Cumberland - was asked today about staying and was noncommittal
Curtis- has posted on Twitter a couple times recently saying he wasn’t taking any questions about his status.

Per Brooks' 'guardian' on twitter "Thank you all for the comments! We made the decision to send Nysier to U of C as a family and the decision to leave as a family also. The decision to go to U of C was based upon Coach Cronin and Coach Savino, not Coach Brannen. WE HAVE NOT HEARD from the new coach yet!!" That was at 8:26PM yesterday.

So...that was less than 9 hours after the press conference. Dude was getting paraded around the whole campus and getting acquainted with everything for a majority of that. If Brooks wasn't there, that's kind of tough to assume he'd even have time to dedicate to reaching out to him when he's got so much stuff literally right in front of him.

Exactly my thoughts. Some of these kids are surrounded by total bafoons. It's really sad to see.

I understand if he wants to leave, I really do, but he and his crew could at least have some class about it, and stay quiet until after meeting with the new coach, instead of heading for twitter.

RE: So d*mn happy to start a new era
In this day and age it's very easy to put something out there in the heat of the moment that you later realize you should have given more thought to. Don't know if that is the case here or not. I'm not going to fault Brooks for doing what he feels is in his and his families best interest. The coaches do, no reason to fault players for doing the same. We may disagree but in the end it's his life and I wish him nothing but the best and hope it works out for him either way.

Brooks twitter account doesn't have any of this. In fact, he recently re-tweeted his award as team defensive player of the year.

Here's how close we came to not starting a new era, interesting, definitely put Ucla in an not so unflattering light:

Think of a starting 5 of Cumberland, Lojo, Keith Williams, Curtis and Trevon Scott/Dou/Nsoseme running a VCU Havoc defense/offense.

SUPER EXCITING.

I love Trevon Scott and I think he will have a huge year, but If Nsoseme or Dou can evolve into Justin Jackson type players in this system, watch out.

You apparently didn't get the memo...I officially called him an UN-stiff by season end <sniff>....

Nsoseme and Diarra are the two I'm watching to see what kind of development takes place under Brannen.

Diarra seems to have the skill set that could really excel in Brannen's system. It's simply going to come down to how hard these guys are willing to work to get better.

Not sold on Diarra. I'm in a 'show me' phase with him.

so much for the thought that this was just a ploy. UCLA absolutely swung, and missed, on a few different candidates for reasons not entirely known - other than not ponying up.

Hate to see him go. He was really starting to look like an un-stiff in the last 10 games. Oh well. If he goes, he goes.

Wish him well.
So this why u didn't take my bet?

Isn't interviewing candidates with large buyouts with no intention of paying the buyout a bit of a ploy?

This why I tell my brothers get paid and do what's best for them. U don't give 2 ucks about the players if they wasn't "run brother run"
