He didn't get sidetracked by what other influences wanted (former players, etc), and made the decision based on who he felt was the best option. Time will tell if thats correct.
By the way, really sad to see the former players being so negative. I expect it with some, but I always had a ton of respect for Terry and felt he was above that noise. I think it would be great if JB wants to add some alumni flavor to his staff, but that should 100% be his call. In theory I like the NVE assistant idea, but feel it could create an awkward dynanic.
Great post Jarr. I know you have a very passionate sentiment for the Huggs teams, and it's good to see you can put that aside, and call this mess the way you see it.

Yeah, Bohn kept everything quiet until the very end. The leaks only started happening 30 minutes or so before the announcement was made. Much more professionally done then UCLA.
Yep... great job by Bohn. With that said, Brannen was the only thing close to a no-brainer, other than Forbes, who was (somewhat) understandably disqualified. Nick and Savino were never going to happen.
I'm excited about a completely new start. Although I hope Brannen retains Parker from the "Old Guard" :)

RE: Mike Bohn
I don't want to detract from the purpose of the thread, as this was the candidate I wanted and I think Bohn has been doing a great job as our AD. I saw a ton of rumors and innuendo that Bohn pushed out Cronin, or that people in the AD/Bearcat Journal seems to dislike Bohn.
Can anyone give any information on this, or was it just a bunch of people butthurt over Cronin leaving for a new job/NVE seemingly not a top choice?

It means almost nothing in the big picture. He could of just looked away. That’s probably what I would have done, honestly. From what I can tell, he’s top notch all the way around.
I agree. I met him on one of the UCAT dinner cruises a couple of years back. I chatted with him and had my picture taken with him. It was like talking with your next door neighbor.

RE: Mike Bohn
I met Bohn a few years ago in Dallas at the SMU FB game. Real good guy IMO.

It depends on what your definition of "pushed out" is. Bohn wasn't going to fire Cronin, but he wasn't going to give him everything he wanted, either. I think Bohn believed that Cronin had a fair contract, while Cronin felt like he deserved some combination of substantial raise or coach-for-life extension.
