Here's his conference preview as a whole. Previews for every AAC team are now up. UConn's defense on this chart is a sight to behold. Top 3 in the league seems strong. https://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal...r-rankings

Very surprised to see Cam Jeffries up there as the best defensive player for UC...I'd have thought Bryan Wright or James Wiggins, but I guess Jeffries was in less high danger scenarios that could negatively affect his efficiency stats.

Kind of crazy to think he has us projected at only 7.5 wins overall...

It's conservative on us because 1. A loaded schedule and 2. teams that make a huge jump one year to the next tend to take a step back or at least not the next step just then. I think we'll be better and I'd take the over on that number, but 4-3 in our toughest 7 games would be quite the accomplishment and other than UConn we probably don't have a real guarantee win (though we should win the others).

The S&P+ projection chart is very interesting.

If we can knock off a Milton-less UCF in Nippert, we could be going to the AAC Championship game. Coincidentally, that would probably result in us playing Memphis on the road in two consecutive games, as our last regular season game is at Memphis.

It's a common belief that the most player improvement occurs from the first to second years. If Ridder is much improved from what he was last year, which wasn't bad...

Combine that with what the Warren led rushing attack will open for him...

It's cruel that it's only April.

RE: Connolly's football preview is up
Is anyone else surprised at Memphis's winning consistency as members of the AAC? I just didn't see it coming. Not to take anything away from them as they've earned it and done quite well overall:

2013 (3-9)
2014 (10-3)
2015 (9-4)
2016 (8-5)
2017 (10-3)
2018 (8-6)

That totals 48-30 (.615). If you throw out their 2013 year: 45-21 (.682). I'll say this, there's two teams I really want to beat this season not named UCF: Memphis and Temple. The Tigers have beaten us 3 times in a row and we last won in 2013. Temple has won 4 in a row against us and we last beat them in 2014. Is it football season yet?

God almighty, we are overdue for a win against Temple. We had that game robbed from us last year by horrible officiating, which resulted in a free TD for Temple and a stolen FG from us. The year before that, Temple beating us was our 7th loss of the season, and the final nail in the coffin for bowl eligibility. And the previous year Temple throttled us 34-13 as we were being led by an ailing Gunner Kiel and retired head coach.

Every Temple loss is absolutely miserable for one reason or another. I hate losing to them, I just hate it. They were kicked out of the Big East for incompetence, and have been decent at best since then, so the thought of losing to them for four years straight is a kick to the nads.

Let's finally crush these guys and leave them in the dust like Miami OH.

The 2015 game was brutal as well. Gunner threw for 426 yards, but 5 turnovers (including 4 INTS by Kiel) and a 100 yard Kickoff Return to start the second half just absolutely killed us. The final score was 34-26 Owls.

Definitely agree its time to turn the table on Temple.

I went to the game this year in Philly. A long plane ride home.
