McClintock
Glad to see he's now aboard.....because point guard is our biggest question mark. Seems line we have three possibilities.

Walters. He was the prime ball handler when Tyson was not in the game this year and last year when Tyson was out for two games he filled in and got nine assists in one game and six in the other one. Continuity would be a plus for him.

To. Haven't seen any game film on him....just highlights.....so he is an unknown. Plus, it looks like his school didn't play their season this year. On the other hand North Pole Hoops had him in the top twenty players in the country and praised his point guard skills.

McClintock. Plenty of game film....and he has PG skills. Stats aren't that impressive but he was only a freshman. Plus, he played in a league that is rated a lot higher than the CAA so he was playing against better competition than he wIll see with us. If you look at the rosters of teams in his old conference most have multiple three and four star players.

RE: McClintock
Catching back upon this one since I watched 5 Air Force games (5 more than I ever thought I would). I forget who posted this initially, but he seems like he is decisive and really moves the ball well. He also seems like he has a decent feel for the game, especially for a freshman. There were some drawbacks but it is a tough league, he was a freshman and that team wasn't very good. I'm sure these traits are what drew Coen to him.

I think we have 2 options. Option 1 is to see if To or McClintock can win the job in pre-season as well as during the non-conference schedule. If they can, even if it's close, I would think that's Coen's hope. Option 2 is to go with someone else as a makeshift point guard. Walters is the obvious choice here as he has done it for the few games. He also ran the point during the CAA final 2 years back when Tyson was out. Maybe someone else can also fill that role as it seems like we have a few new players with at least decent ball handling skills (Joe, Djogo). A hybrid option would be to have To/McClintock run the point for most of the game and then (depending on the situation) put the ball in one of the more experience hands for the last 4-8 minutes.

One thing I don't remember if I mentioned that I like about our new players is that I think they'll all be very motivated to be team players and pull in the same direction. They've each lost a lot of games and I'm sure have a huge desire to be on a winning team. It could be like in pro sports when you get the motivated free agent...at least that's my hope.

It must have been great for Coen when Tyson arrived and showed that he was the guy from the jump. Nobody knows what will happen this year but it's nice to know we have a fallback position if at least one oF the youngsters aren't quite ready. And if that happens it will be nice to have gone from the shortest backcourt in the league to the tallest starting backcourt ( Walters and Grayson)in two years. I'm not worried about the point guard position anymore.
