Unless the P5 teams that aren't UK/Duke/UNC/Kansas/etc. are worried that they'll have players transfer to top 25 teams. Stanford would have been happier to keep Reid Travis I'm sure.

No coach at any level is a fan of the current grad transfer situation. Players are transferring at all levels. Some from mid-majors to P5s, but also some from P5s to mid majors. It has created a lot of roster uncertainty from year to year and coaches are having to recruit more now than ever.

The current situation has also clearly demonstrated how many/most Division I basketball players aren't picking schools based on their love of the school/academics. It's a business decision for many, and they are constantly looking to be at a place that will best enhance their professional prospects (whether that be the NBA or overseas).

Grad schools should stop accepting kids without a commitment to finish their degrees.

I like the proposal about losing a scholarship next season if the grad student doesn’t finish.
