Just thought since this conference has people knowledgeable on college baseball that I would put this out there to get some feedback on Rodney Hennon, who has been at GS since 2000.

The Good:

1. He has only had 1 losing season since 2000.

2. We have historically overachieved in tournaments and that has gotten us some NCAA bids. Got to the SBCCG two seasons in a row in 2016 and 2017.

3. We seem to pick up good wins every season.

The Bad:

1. The last time we had an at-large bid was 2001. That's the real knock on him more than anything. Since then a lot of our former SoCon mates like College of Charleston, Elon, Samford have gotten at-large bids and even App State got one (in 2012 I believe).

2. We get nicked more than we should with bad losses. In 2017 (for example) we had series wins over Troy, UL, Coastal, and Texas State and still got the #5 seed.

3. We probably haven't done quite as well in regionals as we should, although you have to get used to being a #4 seed in a regional when you steal bids. 2009 we were a #2 seed and went 0-2 and were eliminated in the Fullerton Regional.

Now I'm not expecting us to be Coastal or UL, but I am thinking we might can do better.

30 wins a season should be the standard at a place with the facilities and weather like that.

we haven't gotten any better or any worse under Hennon. IMO, for where we are located, we should be doing much better. I feel the last 10 seasons our teams always struggle with the same thing, and over the last few years we seem to be getting less and less power hitters.

I wouldn't mind a change just for the sake of trying something new.

If you guys don't make it to a regional this season, then yes, it may be time for him to go. Too much talent and history.

You have some nice wins this season against Auburn, Georgia, and West Virginia... so maybe if you guys can make a run somewhere along the way, you can at least can an at-large bid to a regional. Otherwise, he gotta go.

In my opinion, we don't let him go just for the sake of letting him go without having a specific name or two in mind and some certainty that they would come if offered. You don't let go of a better than average coach with that much longevity without having a plan in place. You don't fire him and then start looking.
