American tournament units by year
2014 = 11
2015 = 3
2016 = 5
2017 = 3
2018 = 5
2019 = 7 and counting

Already the best year since 2014.

Units are paid out over 6 years and are worth approximately $275K each. We have earned 34 units (and counting) over 6 years.

So 34 x $275K = $9.35M in NCAA tournament revenue.

2014 drops off next year, so it's important to pile up as many wins as possible this year and next. (Thanks Cronin.)

Here are the other leagues units circa 2014-19:

ACC = 114 & counting
Big 10 = 94 & counting
Big 12 = 83 & counting
SEC = 79 & counting
Pac 12 = 61 & counting
Big East = 60
American = 34 & counting
A10 = 34
WCC = 25 & counting
MVC = 19
MWC = 16
CUSA = 10
Sun Belt = 8
MAC = 8

Nearly half of the MVC units were left behind by Wichita St.

Note, while the American has 11 units from 2014 rolling off next year, the A10 has 13 rolling off from 2014 as well. So from 2015-19, we are the tallest midget:

Pac 12 = 47 & counting (worst "power')
American = 23 & counting
WCC = 22 & counting
A10 = 21
MVC = 17
MWC = 12
CUSA = 9
Sun Belt = 7
MAC = 7

If Colgate had come through, I would have to learn this stuff.

Wasnt 2014 the year they left out SMU, and seeded all of the AAC teams like crap? I believe that was the year Uconn won it all as a 7 seed.

Already the best year since 2014.

Units are paid out over 6 years and are worth approximately $275K each. We have earned 33 units (and counting) over 6 years.

So 33 x $275K = $9.075M in NCAA tournament revenue.

2014 drops off next year, so it's important to pile up as many wins as possible this year and next. (Thanks Cronin.)

Here are the other leagues units circa 2014-19:

ACC = 109 & counting
Big 10 = 91 & counting
Big 12 = 82 & counting
SEC = 75 & counting
Big East = 60 & counting
Pac 12 = 60 & counting
A10 = 34
American = 33 & counting
WCC = 24 & counting
MVC = 19
MWC = 16
CUSA = 10
Sun Belt = 8
MAC = 8 & counting

Nearly half of the MVC units were left behind by Wichita St.

Note, while the American has 11 units from 2014 rolling off next year, the A10 has 13 rolling off from 2014 as well. So from 2015-19, we are the tallest midget:

Pac 12 = 46 & counting (worst "power')
American = 22 & counting
A10 = 21
WCC = 21 & counting
MVC = 17
MWC = 12
CUSA = 9
Sun Belt = 7
MAC = 7 & counting

Great analysis. The league needs to get to a point where 7 credits is the worst the league does each year. So getting 4 in each year would almost certainly allow 7 credits to be made. Stinks Cincy and Temple went out with a whimper this year. If they had just won their opening round the league would be sitting at 8 credits. In any event averaging 7 would result in just under 12 million a year in distributions which Would be huge for the league.

We aren’t exactly maximizing this revenue source. Fortunately, it really seems like the league is getting set up to start getting more bids and hopefully enjoy a bit more success once we get there.
