Charlotte was terrible last year. Doesn't seem like a step up for him.

Matt wants to make sure that he will get the playing time next year that he deserves. With Van Vliet almost certainly starting, Matt would be competing with Chase for minutes again next year. Charlotte would give him a system that he is comfortable with and would be a lock to start all games there. There would be no reason for Matt to leave if Chase also left. I would not be surprised if Chase is leaning toward staying, or if the new coach could not guarantee the role that Matt is looking for.

RE: Milon Potentially Leaving
It appears that it was possibly Charlotte or nothing as the well looked pretty dry on offers. Why disrupt one's life, leave a top thirty business school, and go to a school like Charlotte just for more minutes of basketball time? Time that will gain Matt nothing as he's no NBA prospect and a long-shot Europe player (where he could go as easily from W&M).

1) Are reports on AVV so strong that he is a lock to start (regardless of who comes back)? That would be good news.

2) I hope you’re right that Chase is leaning toward staying. I wouldn’t infer that from Matt’s choices only, but if there’s any truth to that, I’d be VERY happy.

3) Why would Milon not get offered anything better than Charlotte? Sure, he’s a defensive liability, but those types of shooters don’t grow on trees. Gotta think some lower-end high majors and plenty of mid-majors would have a spot (probably even a starting spot) for an experienced player with his offensive skillset.

He'll have Kotie in his corner. Sometimes, in a move like this, it just helps to have someone who is already familiar with your strengths and weaknesses to ease the transition.

I really don't care where he goes. I just hope he's happy and has a great career in basketball and life. He's got his sheep skin coming in May and will always be a member of the Tribe family. I would certainly welcome him back to the team if that's what he wants.

Exactly my feelings for Matt and Justin. They've satisfied their promise when they came here. I believe both will consider W&M their college home when done with school. Not the place they spend 1 season.

The players at the banquet were commenting that Andy VV is going to take the CAA by storm next year. I also don't think he came to William & Mary expecting to play just 20 minutes off the bench. It sounds like he could be an All-CAA talent.

As for Matt, I wouldn't say that the interest in him is completely dry. He was visiting Virginia Tech just last week.

Sharp shooting redshirt FR Tyler Bertram and Oklahoma transfer Jordan Shepherd, both, will be on the floor for Charlotte next season, so, I would not see Charlotte as a lock for Matt regarding playing time.

Johnny Dawkins followed Milon back last night, so, UCF would make an attractive landing spot for Matt to play back home.

I think UCF makes more sense than Charlotte

I was saying that it was extremely likely Van Vliet would be starting even before Pierce left. Granted, that was based on the opinions of Tony and his guys, but he's really good and has a combination of size and skill that just isn't common at this level. Given the absence of Pierce, even if Fischer isn't as high on him, he's so much more talented than anyone else we have at the 4 that I would say it's pretty certain.

Andy VV will definitely start. He’s very skilled at 7’0”. He was a bit thin for Big Ten, but his skill and length should do very well in CAA. At 7’0”, AVV could be a 3 or 4 that hits 40% from 3!

According to Jeff Goodman’s transfer rankings, the following schools are interested in Milon:

“Florida, NC State, Oklahoma, Charlotte, Loyola Chicago, Seton Hall, Creighton, USC”

Goodman tweeted

William & Mary grad transfer Matt Milon told me he is visiting UCF today, visited Virginia Tech and Charlotte already, and is also considering Illinois. The 6-5, 190-pound lefty shooter averaged 13 points per game this season and is a 42% 3-point shooter.

UCF just had a G grad transfer commit to them, Dazon Ingram from Bama. 7.1 ppg, 38% from 3. IDK their scholarship situation but that probably makes it less likely Milon goes there

To all of us that were looking so forward to 2019-2020:

- Shaver gone
- Pierce not coming back
- Jon gone
- Matt gone

I’m sorry that we won’t be seeing Matt cut down the nets in March, 2020 in Washington, D.C.

He played his part in moving the program forward.

Thanks and good luck, fellow alum to be!

#UCF men's basketball coach Johnny Dawkins has done it again. This time, Oviedo native and sharpshooter Matt Milon (@MattMilon) is headed home: https://t.co/IdT71HSBDr
