I got this email on Sunday and just realized I had not seen anything about it here. Here is the email:


Gentlemen,

I hope you are all enjoying your St. Patrick's day. Unfortunately I am writing today about a team member who is in need of help. While some of you may have heard of this through other means I hope today to gather the support of the whole Rice Rugby community.

Roughly a month ago, in a match against Trinity University, a promising freshman, Patrick Aghaduino, suffered a head injury which caused a bleed into his brain. Patrick was rushed to the Memorial Hermann hospital, in the Med center, for surgery to save his life and I am happy to report that the surgery was successful. However, Patrick is still at the beginning of a long road to recovery, including additional surgery and physical therapy.

Patrick's family, from out of state, has been with him in the Memorial Hermann hospital since the injury occurred. As many of you know USA Rugby does provide supplemental insurance but in the interim time, Patrick's family is hit not only with the medical costs but also the travel and other incidental costs associated with his care. This is a wonderful opportunity to practice what we preach about the strength of the rugby community in general and at Rice in specific. In the event of funding beyond what Patrick's family needs, excess funds will be donated to the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hermann, the hospital responsible for Patrick's care.
