In case you guys are curious, Corey Allen and Justin Roberts will be the new faces (transferred from Big East, sat out this year due to the NCAA rule) that Hunter will try to build his next team's identity around. Justin Roberts is a pure point guard with ballhandling skills, while Corey Allen is a scorer who carries the offense.

With the amount of folks leaving that roster... this does not surprise me

So do I. Simonds, Benlevi, Thomas, and Mitchell are the core group guys who played together for years. It's time for Simonds to leave with his friends. There is no reason for him to spend another year playing basketball in the SunBelt. Same argument could be made for Hunter.

Agreed, on both. I’m jealous at what the prospect of you guys looking to hire could be. If Hunter got poached... with the success he was able to bring there... I’d think you’d have all manner of big time up and comer types knocking on your door.

While there’s a part of me that’d like the conference to retain the best, I know it’s unrealistic. Shame if he goes, but probably bigger shame if he stays, unless by choice.

Except Simonds didnt have a great conference tournament. Try again.

Georgia State is better than they played today.

ya I thought gastate would be do better. didnt make our conference look very good but otherwise a good season for them. the coogs are pretty highly regarded.

No Belt team matched up with Houston would have made the conference look good.
Ga St was simply mismatched against a superior team, and it showed.

Little Rock Lady Trojans lose to Gonzaga 51-68. The score doesn’t reflect how we played. First quarter doomed us with nerves. They started off 21-2. However we chipped it down to 10 in several movements and played hard but the ball wasn’t falling in for us in big moments. It was an enjoyable game to watch the effort and good representation to the conference.

I've never seen a more pathetic offensive performance than your team turned in in the semifinals. That singlehandedly set basketball back 50 years. If that's what you mean by "help," then thanks, I guess, but I'd rather never have to watch that kind of "basketball" ever again.

Don't be pissed because your best team in recent years (and probably best for a while) topped out in the conference semis looking like a high school JV team.

Lol that's exactly what I was saying. We were in sole possession of first place and all we had to do was take care of a few .500 or below teams to win the championship and get the 1 seed. We ended up turning in some of the worst offensive basketball in the history of basketball. As you say, "setting basketball back 50 years..." Then did the same thing in the semis...

Don't worry though, our fans are used to it. Anytime we start to see any semblance of success, we choke in an epic way.

I guess you, personally, aren’t used to it enough that you’re a good loser. No need to tear down the clear-cut best team in the conference this season just because your best team that anyone can remember turned out to actually suck. Refs this, bad opponents that...save it for when you’re actually better than us, which could be soon enough (you hope).

Man, you guys are going to be a blast if things go haywire with a new coach and rotation next season.

I acknowledge that y'all have a good squad this year. I don't think you need to "hope" that Kentucky will give y'all a challenge.

I think y'all can pretty much count on it . . . . Oh, and be careful what you wish for.

Hate to tell you but losing 5 players next year was a rebuilding year anyhow. Now's your chance to win the conference!

I’m inspired by what Ogden did at UTA this season. I mean, it doesn’t say much about the league that UTA was able to do that given their circumstances, but it gives me hope that even if things DO go totally haywire, we still have a shot at a top-half finish.

Oh, and sorry for the TXST hate, but a couple of them have been more annoying than anyone during the course of this hoops season. I was glad to see Texas State contending this season, however. Nice change of pace.

Watch us “GSU” it and have to eat crap for a decade. I’m ready for it!

Isn't ANY coach going to be disappointed if their team doesn't win???

Will this be one time of the year when you become a Georgia State fan?

Hadn't gotten back to this thread in a while to see that you replied. But no, I was not rooting for you.

IMO, rooting for conference mates over everyone else only goes so far and there are a few limitations in my opinion. This is not one of my normal troll-jobs so hear me out. I don't see the point of rooting for one of your biggest rivals when the potential win would hurt your program more than the win would help. You guys are too close to us geographically and a potential win would hurt us in a recruiting sense. If it were UTA or TXST, I would have been rooting for them because we are not typically recruiting directly against them.

We had the same argument on our board about Appy when they are playing P5's in football. I didn't want to see them win against the P5's either because it would have had a direct impact on our recruiting battles. The little that we would have gained from "conference pride" if you or they had won in either instance would have been over shadowed by the potential to lose recruits to you because of it.

Yes, I get there are some financial reasons (more bowl money, etc) and those do play a factor in it. But in my unimportant opinion, I don't want to see our rivals do better than us when it would ultimately hurt us more than it would help.

One of the very few benefits of being one of only 1.5 teams from Texas in this conference.

I couldn't see myself pulling for UTSA in non-conference games.
