Half of the league had 19+ wins. That isn't bad. We've gotta win some more meaningful games and not lose to terrible teams. I know, captain obvious here. Just a little Monday reflection going on...

There is a lot of returning talent in the league next year. Let's schedule accordingly.

I still hold that there is a lot of potential for this league in basketball. We need to bring it in November and December.

We also have to hold onto our proven-winner coaches. I don't offhand know who is due for contract renewal, but Henson and Sadler come to mind as coaches who might be inviting targets for poaching.

You look at the OVC... they were rated worse as a conference but got multi bids and a better seed due to having a couple of teams that dominated the conference. I am beginning to wonder if we should add a couple of really bad teams so that the top teams will have more wins.

No. Bad move, IMO.
Better quality OOC wins will move the needle more than "more wins" will.

It’s frustrating to see the OVC and A10 get bids and the SoCon was very close. I can’t believe CUSA #2 doesn’t even warrant a NIT bid. It’s ridiculous. The A10 got 2 in the NIT as well. I was thinking ODU would have been a three seed in the NIT, but after seeing Hofstra get a 7, who knows. CUSA gets zero respect, that’s for sure.

Definitely not. We have enough bad teams year in and year out as it is. Better out of conference scheduling and quality wins OOC is what it will take for this conferences reputation to improve. ODU and WKU scheduled well and won a couple of big games each this season. They were just brought down by the rest of the conference.

RE: 6 of CUSA's 14 bball teams had 20+ wins
Our streaming and TV portfolio are the issue.

Syracuse, VCU, Wichita State, UCF, Arkansas, Saint Mary’s, Wisconsin, Hofstra and Illinois were just some of the good OOC wins we picked up as a conference in 2019.

We have games on BeIn, Facebook, Stadium, ESPN +, CBS Sports and the like, and we can’t even figure out which platform is showing our games.

Do we honestly expect committee members to do the same?

This shotgun approach to TV and our games IS THE ISSUE.

If we can’t get this solved SOON, we will continue to dig our own grave.

The fact we have CBS Sports as our “primary carrier” of CUSA basketball, yet are treated as a complete utter afterthought in every other way imaginable aside from the Semi finals and Championship should tell us all we need to know.

If we can’t pick up exclusivity with either CBS, Fox, or ESPN, we need to be trailblazers and go with Amazon Prime.

RE: 6 of CUSA's 14 bball teams had 20+ wins
There's a lot of factors in play but the most important one is the lack of quality wins/bad losses...let's look at USM's:

loss at home to NAIA William Carey
3 point loss at Wichita State
4 point loss at Kansas State
Flip those losses to wins and USM is 23-9 and in the discussion for an at-large bid, definitely in the NIT

WKU's:
6 point loss to Troy
6 point loss @ Belmont
6 point loss @ Missouri State
Flip them and WKU is 23-11 in the discussion for an at-large, definitely in the NIT

UAB:
4 point loss to Auburn
1 point loss to Troy
Flip them and UAB is 22-12 and in the NIT

LT:
7 point loss at LSU
4 point loss @ Delaware
7 point loss to UNC Greensboro
Flip them and 23-10 and in the NIT

We've GOT TO STEP THE NEXT STEP AND START WINNING THESE TYPES OF GAMES...or we'll be a one bid league year after year.

No. USM is probably in the NIT with those wins but not even close to an at-large for the NCAA. Flip those losses for the other schools wouldn't change a whole lot either. Too many bad losses in league play.

One does not simply lose to an NAIA team and make the NCAA tournament or even enter the discussion

We had some nice quality OOC wins, we also had some really bad OOC losses. Playing (and beating) the good teams helps a lot, but we also have to stop losing to the bad ones (as a WKU fan I am starring in the mirror hard on that one).

We led at half. And lost the game 6 points.

Agree. Just look at Charlotte.

5 point loss to JMU
1 point loss to Marshall
3 point loss to FIU
3 point loss to USM
6 point loss to ODU
4 point loss to UTEP
4 point loss to Rice
7 point loss to UNT
9 point loss to Rice

If we just flip all of those, we're in the discussion for a CIT bid, definitely in the CUSA tournament.

We had some wins but they were cancelled out by some really bad losses, some even to D2 schools.

No one in C-USA should be playing D2 schools to pad your record. That is embarrassing. Southern Miss played four D2 schools!!!

ODU can do that too!!!

5 pt loss to Oregon State
1 pt loss to UNI
3 pt loss to Marshall
7 pt loss to FAU
1 pt loss to UTSA
7 pt loss to Southern Miss

If we flip all those, ODU is 32-2 and a #2 or #3 seed in the NCAA tournament. They wouldn't be a #1 because C-USA doesn't get any respect.
