The past 10 years essentially have 3 of the final 4 as major conference teams and a mid makes the final 1 time every 3 years.

In the past 10 seasons, there were 16 mid majors in the semi finals out of the 40 teams. 2016 was an anomaly and had all 4. That is including the WCC, A10 and AAC as mid majors. In 10 years, 5 mids have made the finals (2 in one year, so 3 in the other 9 years)

Past 10 years (finals teams bolded):
2009: SDSU, Baylor, Notre Dame, Penn State
2010: Dayton, Mississippi, Rhode Island, North Carolina
2011: Alabama, Colorado, Washington State, Wichita State
2012: Washington, Minnesota, UMass, Stanford
2013: Baylor, BYU, Maryland, Iowa
2014: SMU, Clemson, Minnesota, Florida State
2015: Temple, Miami (FL), Stanford, ODU
2016: George Washington, SDSU, BYU, Valpo
2017: Georgia Tech, Cal State Bakerfield, UCF, TCU
2018: Penn State, Mississippi State, Western Kentucky, Utah

We are not, and have never been a mid major.

I agree with you about Temple. I consider mid-majors to play in conferences which are consistently 1 bid. Atlantic 10 did not used to be a mid-major. They are borderline now. I'm not sure what you call the AAC, Mountain West, and Atlantic-10. They're not mid-majors and not power conference. They're kind of like tweeners.

Classify them how you want, I just used how the college world classifies them, and said as much when I listed those out.

Texas won convincingly last night for the title. They ended the first half on a 22-5 run and Lipscomb never really responded. They got it to 6 or 7 early in the 2nd half but every time they got it under double digits Texas had an answer.

Virginia defeated Auburn on Saturday. Led by 10 with about 5 to go and didnt score again until 6.5 seconds left and they were trailing by 4. Auburn ended up fouling UVA with .6 seconds left on a 3 point attempt up 2. Virginia hit all 3 to win. Very fortunate to escape, though for much of the game they were the better team.

Texas Tech defeated Michigan state in a defensive war. Texas Tech really made life hell for the Spartans who could not get anything going.

Should be a great defensive game tonight for the title. Vegas agrees with the O/U set at 118. Virginia is a 1.5 point favorite. Both teams will be stellar on defense, so it should come down to who can produce more on offense. Both teams can get stagnant and rely on their defense. Who shoots better from 3? That likely determines the victor.

The other comment is in the 3v3 tournament the CAA's teams took home the victory. It is squads of 4 with all being seniors. The CAA sent Puscia, Brantley, Cacok and JWF. They get to split the 100K prize. So congrats to them.

And that is a wraps on this season. Virginia is champs after their late collapse (again), late 3 to tie and victory in overtime. Pretty good redemption for them to bring most of their team back from last years embarrassment and then win their first title this season.
