Agree - MAC needs to get back to a 2 bid routine!
Bring it!

Getting to two teams would help change the prevailing view of MAC BB. However the best thing in my mind is for Buffalo to get to the sweet sixteen. This was very difficult to say, since I dislike the Bills. Yes I know it's the Bulls but it pisses them off to say that.

They will ha. I have watched a ton of basketball and not many teams have as electric of a top 6 as them. It helps that the MAC is strong top to bottom as well. They have played as many quad 2 and 3 games as anyone not in the BIG or ACC.

will depend on matchups. a big team that has guards who can handle will be tough. an athletic team like arizona state that has a hot shooting night will be tough. a team that is very deliberate and efficient (like a belmont) that can limit turnovers and make 3s will be tough if UB isn't shooting well. and those are just 1st round type opponents. in the second round they likely have someone who is a 2,3, or 4 seed like a texas tech, michigan, LSU who will be very tough. need a good match up and hopefully catch a break. 2 of the MAC teams who went farther than expected (EMU with marcus kennedy early 90s and ohio w cooper and bassett) got a good matchup 1st round and then played another cinderella in round 2 and avoided a top seed until the sweet 16 (ohio was a hair away from taking down n carolina in that round). when kent state had their great run they plowed through 3 powerhouse programs. miami had a sweet 16 team with szerbiak that won a nailbiter in round 1 against washington and then destroyed a heavily favored rick majerus utah team. and when majerus was at ball st he took them to the sweet 16 through pac 10 champ with gary payton and a good lousiville team. that squad also was a wet spot on the court away from upsetting UNLV in the sweet 16 (the year UNLV was considered possibly the best college team of all time and was not tested by anyone else in the field). i remember watch ball st set up a shot for the game winner only to have paris mccurdy slip on a wet spot and the play devolve into a scramble with no shot attempt.

The MAC has produced Sweet 16 teams and it really didn't move the needle to be honest. The only way to improve the image of the conference is by over time whether it be consistently sending 2+ teams to the tourney or fairly regularly send a team to the Sweet 16. Of course if Buffalo did something like make the Elite 8 it would provide a nice launching point, but if the following 3 MAC tourney teams are 1 and done we're back to where we started.

Yes, winning is a must to move the needle. Don't care how* but 3 NCAA credits is the minimum need to at least getting people to slooooowly change their perspective. Multiple years as you say. My only hesitation about two teams in is the seeding would be bad, making it difficult for those 3 NCAA credits.

*Either Buffalo making to the sweet sixteen or two teams in and one or even both (-: win opening night.

Ohio is looking towards a new coach and a big hire is good for the MAC.

Name coaches they want to put on TV will help.

Why would Ohio fire Phillips?

Personally, I'm a fan of the work he's doing there. They should give him a 10 year extension.

you guys are hilarious (sarcasm duly noted!). hehehe

no, i like Saul and he's gotten a raw deal in a lot of ways with injuries and transfer-outs and such. so i'm torn on whether or not he should be fired. he's not getting the results we are accustomed to, but maybe he can starting next year. i trust the administration will make the right decision - whatever that is.
