Georgia was a 14-seed against 3-seed Xavier the year of the Georgia Dome tornado and double header.

lol. So true... They're laying waste to UCF here. Houston's going to have a tough one tomorrow.

I seem to remember them having some sort of elephant back in the 90’s.
http://www.fullertontitans.com/traditions/name
Quote:“Even when it was decided that ‘Titans’ would be the nickname, there was confusion as to what it represented,” said Becker. “I was thinking of a large mythological figure from Greek history, not unlike Tommy Trojan, but with perhaps straighter, more modern lines. In the same vein, the original dormitories were named Othrys Hall. There were others, however, who related the name to the Titan missile then in prominence.”
Nothing official was done but then along came the “First Intercollegiate Elephant Race in Human History.”
What began as a practical joke attracted elephants from universities around the nation and even Oxford from England. A crowd estimated at more than 10,000 people turned out on “Dumbo Downs” as the hastily graded field became known that spring afternoon in 1962.
To publicize the event, a circus-like elephant called Tuffy the Titan was used and it began appearing on sweaters and notebook covers around the campus. With no other mascot, the elephant was unofficially adopted. Several revisions of the caricature have been made to create a more tenacious Tuffy, or Titus as he also was called in an attempt to make him Greek. The costume that brings the mascot to life also has changed. Tuffy even attracted a female Tiffy in 1992.

I remember they had the elephant as mascot even back in the 1980s, but it's probably informally been there at least the decade or two prior. It was an alternate logo 1992 onward, but has been adopted since then officially by the athletic teams.
1992-1999
2000-2009
2009-present
I can’t believe that logo dates from ‘92, it looks more 2000’s minor league baseball style.
Sure enough, I busted out my 1993-94 Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, and Fullerton State had a logo with a more realistic elephant as part of their logo.

Stick a fork in Villanova. I’m probably going to pencil in their opponent to advance their first game regardless of who it is. Xavier has recovered their season...they may be on the verge of stealing a bid?

Villanova pulls it out in OT, likely sending Xavier to a 2-3 seed in the NIT.

Teams continue to pass Nevada by as Nevada is about to fall.
Nevada, down 5 with 30 to go and 6 on the shot clock, just fouled near midcourt.

Disagree, USU might even be in with a loss tonight but another win would have them in for sure.

RE: Bubble Team discussion
Temple lost a round early. With that cluster of Texas, Temple, VCU, and St. John's all there on the bubble, this was not a good day for any of them as both VCU and and Temple duck out earlier than they should have.
Feel bad for Fran. I doubt the Houston and UCF wins are good enough to get them to the tournament. If Davidson gets the AQ for A10, that's another tournament team win for them, but I doubt it's enough. Maybe if Memphis steals the AQ, but, I suspect that comes back out of Temple.
Yikes, AAC, A10, and MWC all providing late championship week madness. Add WCC, and it's almost like the usual suspects in this thing.
