RS FR 6’6 Sam Shafer, whom Coach Kemp and Coach Howland followed in the past, just followed back Coach Kemp (among other coaches). Shafer redshirted this past year at SIU and has decided to transfer. Young & Reckless AAU tweets:

“6'6 G/W Sam Shafer @sam_shafer23 has decided to transfer from SIU. He will have 4 years to play and should be able to play immediately ( waiver status is pending). Shooter with size and is a solid athlete as well!”

There was a Michael Shafer who walked on for the Tribe -- during the Swenson years, I believe. He later went on to coach the women's basketball team at UR. Any relation?

No, he's not related to Michael.

Coach Kemp is now following JR 6’4 Darius Allen, a transfer from Baylor. He spent his first two years at a JUCO and one at Baylor so I think he is a sit-one/play-one.

Coach Howland and RS JR 6’4 Troy Holston, a grad transfer from St. Joe’s, are now following each other. Coach Kemp followed him sometime previously, possibly when he transferred from South Florida.

Greer wouldn't be much more than a D1 level roster filler. Better than relying on a walk on for minutes, but in no way a real difference maker on the floor. His worth would be in practice and potential leadership.

Decent shooter it seems, so he wouldn't be bad as a grad transfer if we have open scholarships

Unfortunately or fortunately, available scholarships aren't an issue.

I suppose I should have said 'since' not 'if'

RE: CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
Kemp's PG/SG the last two years at Ohio, Teyvion Kirk, entered the transfer portal after Ohio's new coach was named. Schools involved with him were listed before Kemp was named to our staff. His twitter account is private, but curious if we've entertained him following Kemp. He was on the MAC all freshman team at 15+ ppg, and the academics appear to be there, as Brown was involved out of HS. Goodman ranked him at #30 on his undergrad transfer list, just below Chase.

30) Teyvion Kirk, 6-4, 185, SG, Soph., Ohio
Stats: 14.1 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.5 apg
Scout’s take: “Scoring point/lead guard, great with floaters and mid-range scorer. Elite rebounder for his position. Posts up from point guard/2-guard spot, and has really good touch around the basket. Needs to improve his shooting and decision-making.”
Schools: Ole Miss, Nebraska, Temple, Butler, UNLV, Towson, Utah State, La Salle

Stats: 13.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg
Scout’s take: “3-man with great size, can play some 4. Pick-and-pop, athletic, can shoot the 3, good rebounder. Needs to work on his handle.”
Schools: Pacific, Portland State, Fresno State, New Mexico State, San Diego, William & Mary, Virginia Tech”

Kamga to Cal State Fullerton.

Tribe will host a few grad transfers next weekend, hearing Tyler Hamilton of Penn and a grad transfer PG to try to build the roster more with experienced players.

Hamilton would be a solid addition at SG. Missed his junior year due to injury and only played six games this year due to injury. He's looking at one more year, but with his scenario, a school could take a chance at a 6th year/medical waiver to try and get an extra year.

Thank you for the heads up! By next weekend do you mean 5/25-5/26 or 6/1-6/2?
