NU has lost the 3 games of their 4-game last this weekend in the Coastal Carolina Tournament In South Carolina.

NU lost Friday morning to UConn 7-4. David Stiehl, who had previous success in mid-week games against UConn, took the loss.
1B Jake Farrell hit NUs first HR of the season.

Saturday morning, NU lost to Indiana 6-4. Tyler Brown got the loss after spotting the Hoosiers 6 runs through 2 innings. But NU behind a 3-run HR from Farrell in the 8th cut it to 6-3 and a sacrifice fly in the 9th made it 6-4.

Saturday night NU lost a tough one 5-4 to #28 Illinois in a game that started after 10pm. Brandon Dufault had his best outing of the season, going 5 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 5 BB 4 K. NU rallied from a 4-0 deficit with 2 runs in the 7th and 2 in the 8th, one of them on Ian Fair’s hit to tie it at 4-4.

But with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th this happened to cost NU a chance to go extras ...

NU got back in the win column Monday behind Sean Mellen’s 7 shutout innings they beat Illinois 8-1 in the last game of the tourney.

Mellen went 7 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 9 K’s.

Scott Holzwasser went 4-4 with 2B’s, RBI, 2 R. Jake Farrell, Corey DiLoretto and Ryan Solomon had 2 hits each.
Cam Walsh hit a solo HR.

NU plays Villanova in Florida on Wednesday before playing a 3- game series at Florida Atlantic this weekend.
