Big Ten To Give Up Holiday Bowl; adding Las Vegas and Belk bowls
Quote:Beginning in 2020, the Las Vegas Bowl will annually feature a team from the Pac-12 against a team from the SEC or Big Ten, and a new bowl in Los Angeles will feature the Pac-12 against the Mountain West, sources told Stadium.

Other changes: The ACC will add the Holiday Bowl, the SEC and Big Ten will rotate between the Las Vegas and the Belk bowls, and the Outback Bowl will feature an ACC team if a Big Ten team is in the Orange Bowl, sources said.

The new conference tie-ins are expected to become official by May, when the NCAA’s new bowl cycle, from 2020-25, is formally announced.

Being that the San Diego stadium is likely to be torn down and replaced by a smaller college football stadium, it may be a necessary move. Not known is whether the Redbox bowl is ending or not. The Outback Bowl angle is also interesting. Nothing yet on what happens to the Citrus Bowl.

I have thought that the Big Ten would have a real chance at the second LA bowl to replace the Redbox bowl but it seems that they wanted to cut back on the California bowls, altogether, and this was the compromise they got. I really would have liked a spot in the Alamo Bowl but that doesn't seem to be happening.
