I got it backwards. Southern is the #3 and Texas State is #4. I would have been right with last year's tiebreakers.

Today's scores:

South wins at App State. South secures a first round home game
Troy likely sends their coach out on a win with a victory at Coastal, potentially moving the Chants to 6th
ULM is obliterating Little Rock with 3 minutes left
UL leads AState by 8 late in the first half.

The more important scores:

UTA wins fairly easily at home over Texas State knocking the Bobcats to the 4 seed.

And in the Defacto SBC Championship Game, Georgia State leads Georgia Southern 42-39 at half.

So Seeds as we know them:

1. GS/GSU Winner
2. UTA/GSU
3. GS/UTA
4. TXST
5. CCU/UL
6. CCU/UL
7. ULM
8. USA
9. AState
10. App

Staying Home

11. Little Rock
12. Troy

I was at the UTA-Texas State game. It was not an easy win. We played with intensity the entire game. Had we had a say, two or three minute lapse, we would have lost. It was more tenuous than the final score suggests.

Texas State brought a big crowd to College Park Center. It was fun having them, and they were classy and good-natured fans. They were undaunted from doing chants outside after the game.

Congrats Mav. Y'all got it done.

We have no one to blame for dropping to the 4 seed but ourselves. We went 2-3 in our last 5. We simply haven't figured out how to close.

Ah, got it. Was going by that post but am glad we don’t have to play the rivals a third time. Not excited about playing Texas State in the semis either. Will be a tough two games.

Part I of mission accomplished. I don’t hate the NIT fallback, but hopefully we aren’t done.

And I'm just glad we don't. Though I'm not sure it matters honestly. Even if we do win Tuesday, with the current format, we're just fighting for pride now.

We had it all right in front of us yesterday— huge home crowd, NIT-guaranteed spot, regular season championship, senior day, etc. And we blew it. Maybe the moment was just too big for us. It is disappointing to year-after-year in basketball be one of the top usually 4 teams in the Belt and never seem to get over the hump. Really don t know what to expect of us in the tourney

Same for TXST. 1 game lead in the standings and finish 0-2. Terrible finish to the regular season. Been 1=2 all season long and drop to the 4 seed on the final day....

Lost 3 of our last 5 to close out the season. Played terrible basketball down the stretch. Controlled our own destiny and choked. Very disappointing end to the regular season for us. My only hope is that Kaspar can figure things out and get us refocused and back on track before the tournament.

oooooohhhh, Boo Hoo Hoo . . . Cry Me a River. Don't even start with that "We had it all in front of us, and choked it away crap." Cause when it comes to choking, Nobody chokes better than us.

We were in 1st or 2nd for almost the entire season.
We had a 1 game lead with 2 to play.
We lost to a sub .500 team to fall into a tie for first with 1 to play.
We lost to a .500 team on the last day of the season to fall from a possible 1 seed to a 4 seed.
We dropped 3 of our last 5 to ensure that we'd snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
We blew an outright Regular season Championship.
We blew a shot at a Co-Championship.
We blew the 1 and 2 Tournament seed.
We're now seeded 4th in the Tournament.

Our Choke was Epic.

Ain't NO Choke like a Bobcat Choke. 03-banghead we do this for fun. 03-banghead

In basketball we know a lot about choking. Should be a fun tourney though with several teams having a shot

You might not have to after the way we've been playing.

Yep...a lot can happen in NOLA. Remember that Troy went to the NCAAs in a year when the league had a clear best team, and it wasn't them (it was UTA, if you're keeping score). There's so much parity this year that it's too early for any of us to feel too good or bad about the way the season ended.

I actually think the best case scenario for any of us might have been to go into the tourney as the 2 seed. You get the byes without the pressure. As much as we all agree that the NIT is a very respectable field to be a part of, getting there after losing as the 1 seed still feels like crap.

The top four teams in this league are very good. If the tournament was a round robin of those teams, it would be a tossup. I'm certain it'll come down to one of the top four, but who wins is anybodys guess

agreed. On paper, TXST is actually the tougher matchup. Bobcats have better mid-range shooters than GS to break our matchup zone without necessarily driving all the way to the basket. Also TXST's man defense plays much tighter than GS because their players can match our speed step-for-step. The game will really depend whether the Bobcats can reenact that focus and intensity they brought to Atlanta during our last game.

emotionally, however, GS would probably play us much harder.

And that's the problem right there. We haven't looked like that team since that game. I think we got too cocky and bought into our own hype, lost focus and haven't been able to regain it the rest of the season. Maybe limping into the tournament as a 4 seed will be the wake up call we need.

When we play our best, we can play with just about anyone.
