Really is refreshing. 22 point lead with 12 minutes left. Keep it up and keep going

Congrats guys. I picked you to win the tournament, and I see no reason to change that opinion.

Thanks. Really hoping we can put it together and win it all.

Though you lose Cacock you have a fairly young team and hopefully you'll take some big steps next season. I really like Toews, especially if he can be a consistent scorer for you. The CAA as a whole is better off when you guys are good. Good luck next season.

Monday night’s going to be a heavyweight fight with CofC. Let’s hope it doesn’t come down to the wire where the refs can influence the outcome with a call.

RE: The tourney
I mentioned this on our board: Joe Mihalich shouldn't have been anywhere close to winning COY. I wouldn't put him in the top 5 coaches in this league. It should have been Coen. The Quarterfinals proved that. NU battled through injuries to several key bench contributors nearly the whole season.

Even if Hofstra gets past Delaware today, I give them roughly a 0 % chance to beat the winner of your game with Charleston. That's the championship in my mind.

Let's just hope there isn't any shady officiating. The league definitely wants the Cougars to win.

Seahawk, I think you would be hard pressed to find a single NU fan that would be willing to trade head coaches with Hofstra. I'll give him or his team credit for being great recruiters, though.[/i]

Exactly. Fantastic recruiter, awful (or at least highly questionable) head coach.

Not dissimilar from C.B. McGrath, really. And McGrath has gone 3-2 against Mihalich H2H, including a CAA Tournament win last year.

RE: The tourney
Lot's of emotions going into this game tonight. Excitement, nervousness...

I'm nervous because it's basically an away game. We blew it last year. The refs did not help. It's hard not to think about.

I'm nervous because we haven't won a legit close game all season. There are been 9 times we have been in a situation at the end of regulation or overtime where it was a one possession game. We were ahead in 0 of those circumstances. 4 times we lost (BU, Del 2OT, Hof, Tow). 5 times it went to OT or 2OT (Delx2, Elon, Elon again, CoC). The only games that we won that were "close" were 5pt win vs St Bonnie, and 4 pt win @ UNCW. Both of those games our opponents hit a couple late shots to make the score closer than it was.

That said, I'm excited because our other 19 wins this season have been by at least 9 points, which means we are a pretty good team.

I'm excited that we are getting healthy at the right time.

I'm excited because I think we are better than Charleston, and have a great chance to win.

Vegas has us as 3 point favorites right now. Let's go Huskies! Keep on rolling!

If we win tonight the arena will be empty tomorrow. I hope the refs don't have a revenue sharing deal.

I'm not saying Mihalich is a great coach, but recruiting matters. Let's say you knew that if Mihalich coached you this season, you would have 2 more wins because of decisions during games but 4 fewer wins because of worse recruiting for a net of -2. Who would you rather have? That's a hypothetical, not an estimate of how much coaching and recruiting matter. I also don't think you can say McGrath is better than Mihalich because of head-to-head when Hofstra was so much better overall in the two seasons. Without commenting on this season, I will say that I don't expect Mihalich to win COY next season. I wouldn't be shocked if he coaches five or more seasons after this without winning COY again. Niagara fired the coach they had for the six seasons after Mihalich left them.

I would have voted for him as ROY not COY.

Offense looks out of sync. Thankfully we've been able to get a good number of boards to keep us in it. I think we can play a lot better on offense in the 2nd half. Up 35-33 at half.

Not saying C.B. is a better coach. Merely that it’s a knock on Mihalich that he’s lost to C.B. three times despite stronger rosters.

No idea how we won that game. Thought Charleston played great on defense and we we not our best. Way to go.

Pusica with a smart, clutch play with 37 seconds left but I think play of the game was Green's offensive board and put back dunk with 1:30 left. Huge play for the big man! Everyone contributed in this game and we needed it.

As NUGUY mentioned, Occeus being back was huge. Not sure how we win tonight without him.

Yeah, we did not shoot our best but having Occeus back was huge. Riller was a non factor. I will take a team that has multiple scoring options any day.

RE: The tourney
Good luck to NU, that semifinal game was awesome. This is the final I was hoping we would get, definitely the best two teams this year. Can we get a day reprieve, and move the final to Hartford or New Haven? I can't believe we've lived to see the day of an all-northern CAA final.

As for SN08 killing Joe, I mean there are a lot of good coaches in the CAA, McGrath not being one of them, but Coen and Mihalich definitely are. Skerry beats Coen a lot, does that make Coen a bad coach? Certain matchups will always just favor some teams. Congrats, the only thing McGrath has done right in his two years at the dub is beat Hofstra a few times.

Joe's universal knock is that he sells out for offense, it almost cost us today to be honest, and it's why he gets killed on the Hofstra message board. He's really just maximizing our talent in a somewhat unconventional way though. JWF is a stud, but there isn't a significant, or in my opinion, any, talent advantage Hofstra has over the rest of the league. Mihalich maximized his undersized, guard-heavy roster into the most prolific offense in school history. I'm not saying I love that system, or that Joe is some genius, but the guy is 21 games over .500 in CAA games at Hofstra.

This year he deserved COY, winning the regular season outright. Coen did a fine job too, I highly respect that program, but the guy who wins the most games usually gets COY. To say Hofstra has no chance to beat Northeastern tomorrow is stupid. We won the first one, and the truth is JWF came in with a shoulder injury for the second game, and re-injured it in the second half. Still think NE takes that one, they outplayed us, but maybe we don't have the abysmal shooting performance we did in Boston.

Can't wait for the game tomorrow, I think it's a legit toss-up, and it will probably be an ugly game after the two semifinal wars tonight. Hopefully someone is actually in the arena to watch it.
