I was thinking that their bigs need to hit the weight room this off-season and get a bit stronger. SU had an advantage in rebounds and points in the paint.

De'jon Davis is leading the WAC in rebounding and CBU is second in rebounding in the WAC. Last night, Seattle came out with intensity and took it to CBU, especially in the first half. The rebounding evened out in the 2nd half when CBU matched the intensity. CBU likes to play man-to-man and they need better outside quickness. They only played three guys off the bench, with 6'11" center Zach Pirog playing a season high at 23 minutes. They needed his size.

Another big man for depth would help and an "Oscar Frayer type of athlete" would help. They have some players coming next season that will help.

Fairfield transfer Ferron Flavors (6'4, G, JR) should give CBU another scorer to compliment Milan Acquaah next season. He averaged 12.3 ppg and 3.6 rpg at Fairfield last season. And, it appears Croy will have more serviceable big men at his disposal next season. CBU should be much tougher to beat next season.

ChiState has a beautiful arena and I really liked their announcer. He was very knowledgeable and not a homer in any way. Bako and GCU, take note. He mentioned ChiSt has some good recruits coming next year. Glad to hear that.

So frustrating to see UMKC blow another lead, especially at home. UMKC needs confidence games like tonight's because I get the sense that they don't know how to close. They pissed the games against E Washington, Milwaukee, and now UTRGV. Props to Vaqueros for winning on the road in conference play, but man if I don't feel like the Roos gave that one up.

Looks like we're playing Bakersfield no matter what in the 4-5 match up.

RE: WAC basketball week 17
Very good game last night at CBU. Very entertaining. The arena was rockin'. CBU missed three 3 pointers in the last minute that could have won it, including a shot at the buzzer. UVU won 64-63, it just seemed like CBU needed to find a way to get inside for a closer shot or get to the foul line. They will learn from the experience of this loss and the loss to Seattle on Thursday Night.

UVU has a good team with some good size. That definitely bothered CBU last night. It will be interesting to see UVU matched up against GCU, if they both win their first round games. GCU has more talent but I think UVU has some good shooters and they are a well coached basketball team.

I am hoping that CBU can get a win at UTRGV to get to 16 wins. What is the tiebreaker for the 6th seed if UMKC and Seattle end up in a tie? NMSU is too good to not make it to the championship game in the WAC Tournament, so it is just a question of who they are playing, probably GCU.

That UVU vs GCU game on Thursday is going to be crucial. More than likely the winner will play Seattle in the tournament. I’ll take UVU winning at home.

Tiebreaker would be H2H, which is tied. Then, I'm pretty sure of, it's record vs. 1st place and then work their way down. Seattle/UMKC will have literally beat the exact the same teams the same number of times. In other leagues they go off of RPI, but IDK how WAC.

If UMKC and Seattle U are tied in the standings and both have beaten the same teams, the next tiebreaker is the better RPI. In this case, Seattle U moves up to the 6 seed and UMKC drops to the 7 seed. At this point only the #1 (NMSU), #4 (UTRGV), #5 (CSUB), and the #8 (Chicago State) seeds are locked in for the WAC tournament.

At this point only the #1 (NMSU), #4 (UTRGV), #5 (CSUB), and the #8 (Chicago State) seeds are locked in for the WAC tournament.
So if the information about RPI is correct, then GCU would play Seattle in the first round if Seattle sweeps CSUB and GCU next week and GCU also losses to UVU (per the predictions above). As a GCU fan, I would not mind that at all since it would likely have GCU going through Seattle and then UVU in order to reach the championship game. I like those match ups since neither of those teams play intense, in your face defense which GCU's guards struggle with. Of course, if GCU sweeps next week, we would likely still get these same match ups so hoping for two victories instead of two defeats. 04-rock

Interesting start to CBU/UTRGV. Milan is ejected two minutes in after throwing a punch at Levi. Simple in-bounds after a made basket, throws a right-hand. Coach Croy then t'd up, Levi hits 4 ft's. At the half, UTRGV up 5. Heading with five 3's and 17 points.

I hope this takes Acquaah out of the POY discussion. I'd hate to see the WAC represented by someone who cannot seem to keep his cool. Hope it goes to Jake Toolson or Jarkel Joiner instead.
