Football Officiating Alliance
https://caasports.com/news/2019/2/21/caa...c-aac.aspx
The CAA has joined the ACC, AAC, Big South, Ivy, and Patriot leagues in a football officiating alliance.
Well, on the one hand, the CAA football officiating has sucked for a long time, so this hopefully will help.
On the other hand, I remember a long time ago (probably 20-25 or more years ago) when the CAA signed a basketball officiating agreement with the ACC. It was supposed to allow more ACC officials (presumably better and more experienced than CAA officials) to work more CAA games, while the CAA officials would get to work some ACC games. It turned out that ACC refs only worked a limited number of CAA games, many of which were the high profile games where it actually did the CAA a disservice to have refs who were not even familiar with the players call the action in such important games. Within just a couple of years it became apparent that the agreement was working only to allow the ACC to scope out the best up-and-coming CAA refs and it did not take long for the ACC to hire a bunch of them away from the CAA. The agreement was discontinued/not renewed shortly thereafter.
Just saying ..........
(Of course, nobody working in today's CAA offices would have any corporate memory of this).

Actually, I think that alliance is still in place.
" Four NCAA Division I conferences – the Big South, Ivy League, Northeast and Patriot League – will join the Men’s Basketball Officiating Alliance that was formed last year by the Atlantic Coast Conference, BIG EAST Conference, Atlantic 10 Conference and Colonial Athletic Association. The participation of the four new conferences is effective immediately.
The Alliance will enable all eight conferences to work together on a wide range of officiating matters, including scheduling, training, development, recruitment, retention and evaluation. The long-term mission of the Alliance is to increase proficiency and consistency among veteran officials across the collegiate basketball officiating landscape and to facilitate the entry of younger referees into the officiating profession.
Bryan Kersey, the ACC’s Supervisor of Men’s Basketball Officiating, and John Cahill, the BIG EAST Coordinator of Officiating, will continue to lead the operation of the Alliance. They will be supported by Reggie Greenwood from the Ivy/Patriot, the Big South’s Joe Forte and Jack Sweeney from the NEC."
That was in 2017 and the MEAC joined the alliance in 2018. There has been no notification of the CAA leaving it.

Thanks Billymac. So apparently they resurrected it in 2016, for basketball.

Box score on Duke website lists officials for UNC game as Brian Dorsey, Ron Groover, and Mike Eades.
Box score on TribeAthletics.com lists officials for CofC game as Tim Comer, Raymie Styons, and Les Jones.
I can understand some officials needing to be in the witness protection program...but which one did the UNC/Duke game?

I think he was saying one of the refs that was part of that basketball alliance did the Duke/UNC game, not the recent W&M game. I could be wrong though. Eades was part of that back then. The ACC can also keep Eades.
