RE: Game 27, Charleston
If we could shoot FTs, I would say foul. But with how bad we are from the FT, we just have to hope and pray Charleston misses a 3

So grateful for the win. Sad to admit i felt certain Riller would hit that last shot. Big big win tonight.

Btw, Towson totally outplayed Hofstra. They are playing very well. But they blew the chance to win in regulation.

Fun to look on the CofC message board and see them describing the Kap as a House of Horrors. Wish more teams (ahem ... Drexel) felt that way.

Huge amazing win!!! Never thought JP only scoring eight would result in a victory, but didn’t expect Milon to go off for 27 either. Imagine if this team could just shoot free throws better. 18-27 es no bueno. On to Wilmington!

If this team figures out free throw shooting (Especially in clutch time) and not making awful turnovers, they could be a real threat in the CAA tourney. Really good job in the 2nd half of limiting Riller on offense and taking care of the ball. Why they can't take care of the ball for 2 halves I will never understand...

Also, as much as I ragged on Loewe the first half of the year, he has quietly been playing much better the back half of the CAA schedule. Making smart cuts to the hoop, finishing layups, and not turning the ball over is what we need from him.

I thought both that Brantley would hit his free throw and that Riller would hit the last shot. I'm still not convinced it didn't bounce straight up and go through the net.

Huge win!

+1....Luke had zero turnovers tonight.

Regarding Brantley missing the FT and Riller finally missing the three to win, Charleston was gassed at the end. We really worked our offense and hard cuts the whole game, and made Charleston work very hard on defense for 45 minutes. It took it's toll on them in the second half.

The stat most amazing is 12 block shot with Nathan getting 8 of them and no blocks for CoC! Again our D made the difference along with the halftime adjustment of double teaming Riller. in the second half Brantley was a beast and i was surprised how good of a game Miller had against Nathan but Milon played his BEST ALL ROUND game and was the difference.

Great win! First game I have seen in person this year. I'll be there on Saturday too. The Kap was rocking! I know that the players must have been feeding off that energy. We need more of that at every game.

Our best player goes down and stays down and our ancient trainer waddles (yes, I chose that word deliberately to best describe his speed) over to check him out. Come on, man!! Get your butt moving and run over and check him out.

Nate had gone 7-8 until only 2:46 remained in regulation. He went only 5-10 after that. In fact, CofC purposefully tried to foul him late but fortunately he got rid of the ball to Milon first (who went 2-2 with 0:14 left, although Milon also went only 1-2 in OT).

Yes, a very impressive game. Could have had 34 or 35 points with some more made FTs. Nate got only 6 rebounds, though (including getting credit for one on that last Riller miss -- wasn't the game already over before the ball came down?). I think that it was a conscious coaching decision for him to lay off the rebounding in order to conserve fouls. That worked -- but there were numerous times where the Tribe shot a 3 and not a single Tribe player was anywhere near the basket, not even Nate. I thought that they should have been working the ball into him more, which they did get back to doing late in the game.

The crowd was very loud for Brantley's FT -- maybe it affected him. Glad to see them miss after we had missed so many. If Riller had made that shot then we would have lost. I think that would have broken the team's spirit and the season would be over. Thankfully, however, the bounce went our way. I also thought that the high bounce would fall straight through but sometimes the basketball gods are just. The Tribe had had numerous shots go deep in the cylinder and then bounce out (LJ had two, one of them on a FT) and, conversely, CofC got every lucky roll (except one; Riller had a layup roll around the rim and then fall off). CofC had one play where Nathan fouled Miller and the ball hung on the rim for literally 2 seconds before finally falling in. Miller made the FT, too.

All in all, a great game to watch. Can't wait for Saturday.

Matt Milon said in the postgame that one reason he played so well was because it was his mother's birthday and he always tries to play well on that day.

His mom needs to tell him that it is her birthday on the day of every game!

Game highlights. Look at Audige's shot at the 1:30 mark. How was no foul called on that play?

I agree that the 3 pt shot foul was a totally blown no call.....I thought that during the game, and then the highlights just confirmed it.

Regarding our trainer and Nate's scary moment, I was upset during the game, also, that our trainer was very slowly responding to Nate. In hindsight, though, I believe there was a rule change last year, where anytime a trainer attends to a player on the court, that player is required to come out of the game. Consequently, trainers have to exercise a lot of judgment now to assure they don't unnecessarily inject themselves and impact the game. It's a tough situation, and though the rule change was probably to cut out fake stoppage of play, I think it compromises trainers regarding potential accute player medical issues. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to our trainer's ongoing assessment and judgment of the situation. LJ was right there and did not motion to anyone when he turned and walked away after helping Nate. Our trainer probably at that point anticipated that Nate was going to get up on his own and so he was measured in his response to approach him. He had to commit once Nate didn't get up. When he did get up, it was obvious that there was no tangible injury, but Nate had to come out of the game at that point.
