Exclamation 2020 FB Recruiting
Didn't see an existing thread on this. H'burg, plz add to sticky threads?

Very excited to see what pans out over the next year given the recruiting and development potential of Coach Cig and the resources at JMU. New article by Madia touches on it.

The position, of course, with the biggest need and highest potential is quarterback. Anyone hear of guys we're courting or have recommendations the staff should be looking at? Forget an FBS transfer, I want to see a home-grown superstar!

I think we usually wait for the first verbal or first transfer after the traditional signing day in February before starting a new recruiting thread.

Cheers to a bright 2020 - let’s see how Alabama’s recruiting coordinator fairs at JMU.

Good thing we didn't get him.

Apparently Bama offered, clearly makes him 3 star material.

Yeah that just shows what a joke the star rating system is. Certain P5 offers = automatic 3 Star. Don't get me wrong Bama gets great athletes and often molds them into top caliber players but you can't tell me they don't have duds too. And I'm sure they've "coached up" some two star or less into quality players. Inflating ratings just because a guy goes to Alabama or Georgia is so asinine.

By some accounts, looks like he was bumped to a 4 star after the Bama offer ... surely Bama would stoop to the 3 star player level, right? 03-lmfao

JMU coach was in to my kids school recruiting today, up in central PA; Small school, but there’s numerous D1 recruits.

RE: 2020 FB Recruiting
According to Madia's article (a snippet below), sounds like there will be a lot of '20 recruiting activity over the next month so we should see a number of new offers going out there. Looks like we've already made some offers but many of these seem to be stretches- 3 stars or more we're trying to land early before the P5s come along.

Excited to see what Cig attracts and lands at QB with a full recruiting year, hopefully we land a raw under-performer that he grooms to be a superstar. Says he's going to take his time.

The next phase of the recruiting process is a crucial for both coaches and prospects alike, and that begins in early June.

“Camps are really big,” Cignetti said. “Not only the ones we’re going to have here on campus, but our guys will go work other college camps and be able to evaluate players that maybe don’t make it to our camp, so that’s a big part of it.”

Cignetti and his staff will host four prospects camp, an offensive line/defensive line camp and a specialist camp. He added members of his staff are already slated to work camps at Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Old Dominion, Rutgers and Wake Forest, and might work camps at Penn State and Pittsburgh.

And on a side note, they’ll travel from PA to South Carolina to open the season against Hammond on ESPN (08/25). On the way down south they’ll be stopping at JMU and having practice. Will be a good chance to get some eyes on them and also impress with the facilities. While their top player is a 5* recruit, there are several other players that would fit in well at JMU.

It'll be interesting to see if Cignetti wins recruiting battles with higher profile schools as Houston did. To me, this coming recruiting class is very important in keeping our momentum going after the Coaching change.

Thanks. You gotta love these recruiting sites not usually being up to date with offers and interest.

RE: 2020 FB Recruiting
The transfers seem solid, we'll have to see how the new staff does with the high school recruits.

Kamara appears to be fine/decent recruit. Not a "hell ya", but also not a head scratcher.

This early into the 2020 recruiting year, it's hard to get the "hell ya's" to JMU.

Kamara had (has?) interest from UMD/ECU/UVA/VT also. Hope he remains committed to us.

The Madia article mentioned that he had 10 scholarships, but he had trimmed that list down to 2 - us and Kent State. So you're both right :)

Second team All-State (5A) as a junior. Not bad at all!
