A top 5 FSC school is every bit as competitive as a bottom 3rd FBS program.

Throw in our results, support, and facilities and we are better then 1/3 of FBS programs. Which is a half full - half empty situation on these board and amoungst fans.

Other than NDSU our recruiting is better than any other FCS in the country. That said, we still lose "most" battles to the ECU's, ODU's and MACs. The service acadamies are a different situation. They need to make a ton more offers due to their enrollement requirements.

What surprises me is that we out perform a lot of FBS schools that "usually" win recruiting battles against us.

Look at ODU - their recruits have been more highly toughted - but we would of been a 2-3 TD favorite against them over the last 3 seasons.

Agree. I was at Cedar Point Amusement Park (Sandusky, OH) last summer and spotted Meeks and some friends at the park. I was in line for a ride so I couldn't go say hi, but you better believe she was rocking Dukes gear head to toe. I love to see that.

He’s listed on 24/7 as a DE. Offers from Army and Air Force, in addition to a plethora of prestigious FCS academic schools. He must be hitting the books hard.

I notice we’re going head to head with the service academies and Ivy/Patriot more. We seem to be going for a higher performing student athlete, academically speaking.

Per Madia, we got our 7th commitment this morning...

This morning's commitment of Mater Dei (Middletown, N.J.) DE Khurram Simpson gives JMU two defensive linemen in its 2020 class.

So far, the seven-man class features players from five different states - N.J., Va., Ind., Mass., and Ohio.

Khurram Simpson has offers from Maine, Bryant and Wagner.

DE seems to be his spot.

We need the depth on the D-line. Hoping we add another DL to this recruiting class because we are losing a lot this year and next (during a presumable redshirt season for the 2020 class).

We’re getting commitments from non-Virginia players at rates higher than I can recall. I’m sure I’ll be fact checked.

I am not too surprised by that, although I would be surprised if that trend goes up next year. Reason? These are guys that were recruited probably before they came here. Many of the guys are from farther north so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise we are getting NH and MA guys. I'm sure as time passes these guys will be bringing in less players from the north and more from VA and surrounding areas.

Should I worry about the quality of other schools offered? Seems awfully early to be grabbing guys we're fighting with Bryant and Morgan St to recruit.

It's a valid question. I wondered the same thing as well. Ordinarily I have no issue w/ having non highly recruited guys mixed in w/ guys that have gotten big school offers. It was the two in one day that raised an eyebrow. Ultimately, I trust the coach. Maybe they're locking in early on guys ready to blossom. Or incredible athletes who are 2 inches too short or 20 lbs too light (Jimmy Moreland was seriously tiny when he arrived on campus).

That said-Give me an entire roster of players who received an FBS offer and I'll bet the house against a team with an entire roster of players with only FCS offers.
