NCST OG Joshua Fed-Jackson has entered the transfer portal. 6’3” 323, started 23 games for NCST. Originally a 3 star out of NJ. Perhaps he’d like to play for JMU closer to home?

A little surprising seeing as he was as enthusiastic about coming to jmu as anyone during recruiting.

Seemed like a pretty good kid, so hopefully he finds a home to play football and have an enjoyable college experience. I’m sure he’ll have plenty of opportunities presented to him
Not surprised looking at RB depth
Quote:RBs (6) (Kirlew not returning as an rSr).
-#7 rSr Jawon Hamilton (5’8”/195) (returning co starter).
-#31 Sr Percy Agyei-Obese (6'0"/205) (returning co starter, 1st team All CAA).
-#42 rSo Solomon Vanhorse (5’7”/177) (returning “2” deep).
-#21 So Latrele Palmer (5’11”/228) (returning “2” deep).
-#2 rFr Austin Douglas (5’11”/195)
-Fr Kaelon Black (5’10”/195)
He was likely penciled in at the #6 RB behind Douglas..Of the 3 true Fr backs last season, he ended up being the only 1 that DNP. Maybe doesn't want to do a position change?

Tweeted out his recruitment is open and he has 4 years of eligibility. I believe that’s only if he goes down or gets a waiver, otherwise he’ll sit this upcoming season out as well and only have 3 seasons left.

Wasn’t Douglas switched to DB?

Thought that was just when the defensive backfield was banged up for added depth. Not sure it was permanent

RE: 2020 FB Recruiting
I thought that Jackson was originally a 3 star recruit. If my memory serves, he didn't play his senior year of HS due to injury and then didn't play last year. We're still waiting for that vaunted Houston class to break out (and Cignetti kept all but one, Rick D'Abreu). He had too many guys in front of him, so transferring out make sense. He was offered by Purdue, East Carolina and others.

If I’m reading the UNC website correctly, he has only 1 year of eligibility left.

He comes with a UNC playbook though.

Redshirted in 2016, and was injured in 2017, so he may be a guy who gets a 6th year.

RE: 2020 FB Recruiting
An article from 247 says he will graduate in May and come into the 2020 season as a grad transfer. I never really considered TE as a position of need but there are big shoes to fill with Dylan graduating.

Speaking of 247 Sports, they rated ECU's recruiting class #2 in the AAC.

RE: 2020 FB Recruiting
Another note on Noah Turner from the DNR article:

“So he said though he’ll go to JMU with one year of eligibility left, he could gain a second season if he applies for and is granted an extra year since that 2017 campaign was lost due to injury.”

“My trainer at UNC said that I would qualify for a sixth year,” Turner said. “I’d get it, but I hope I don’t have to use it. I want to have a very successful season and move on professionally, but you never know what could happen.”

I did not realize how thin we are at tight end also. Really only three on the roster with two of them coming off injury.
