RE: Very Early MAC FB Rankings
I will comment on EMU. Spring ball hasn't started so we really, really don't know what to expect.

EMU has significant losses on defense including both starting DEs, Crosby and Harris, and LB, Rachwal.

I don't think EMU fans really appreciate how important Crosby and Harris were as bookends. Crosby was a big time playmaker.

I believe our offense will be better; defense worse.

I can't really argue being ranked last in the MAC at this point. Akron lost a lot of talent on a team that won only 4 games and have a new staff coming in will be looking to implement a new system on both sides of the ball. We'll see how the season plays out.

Need to see substantial improvement on defense - cornerback in particular - if we are to be in the MACC.

As usual, Toledo will be division co-champion but will lose the tiebreaker and not participate in the championship game. Does Vegas allow bets on this?

1.EMU- coaching and buy in. PLUS winning close games instead of losing nearly all of them has to happen sooner or later?

2. Miami- they've had decent recruiting classes, new facilities, and won at the end of 2018. The roll around is here. Offense wins in the MAC...At least until the title game.

3. Ohio- why won't they win 8 or more?

4. Toledo- RB corps is the only thing we have to rely on. 6 win basement again.

5. NIU- their fans say they lose a lot. NIU near middle of the pack... Why is that hard to believe?

6. KSU- year 2 of a new coach and a team that works hard? I like that. Recruiting classes are improving as well. This could be a year early but 5 wins??

7. UB- loss of WR and QB talent. The D was pretty good but how will that translate on the field? We've seen KSU and Akron bust it for a title game then fall back off, so UB back to earth.

8. WMU- not a good defense and not a good coaching staff from my POV... If you're confused about this, it's my Toledo bias.

9. CMU- good defense paired with the worst O in the country can land you at 3 or less wins for multiple years.

10. Akron- new coach. Rebuild time.

11. BSU- can't hold a QB. Why middle of the pack?

12. BGSU- rebuild.

If those are your bets, then prepare to lose a lot of money.

Here's my blurb on all of the above team from my knowledge.

I think we'll be about overall #4 or #5 in the MAC, at best. Our D doesn't just need a few tweaks, it needs a quantum leap in improvement. Wassink needs to avoid his 3rd injury in a row.

And I understand why Lester is tinkering with player positions (Eskridge to CB, etc.), but reshuffling the deck to the extent he's planning to do is a wildcard.

RE: Very Early MAC FB Rankings
There is no great place to put this funny tidbit.
The NFL Combine is reporting Andy Isabella as being from the MAC. Guess they think we never left.

quote from Franks blog:
Quote:If you go to the Combine website, click on participants, and then click "I" Andy's link comes up. Says his conference is the MAC.

Here is the link:
NFL Combine Link for participants

This article, way down at the bottom, list you at just a 2.5 dog to playing at UMass on Sept 28th.

Pretty in depth article:
