RE: William Byron-NASCAR-Liberty U.
DAYTONA 500
Byron and his team turned a horrific day into just a bad day.
They were caught up in a crash on only lap 15 that took out 16 cars and almost flipped him over. His team fixed the car enough that it would turn laps. He managed to finish 26th.

On the other hand, my other favorite driver, Michael McDowell, an outspoken and great Christian brother, took the checkered flag for his first career win!04-cheers 04-rock

I am still trying to come down from my adrenalin rush and can’t sleep.

DAYTONA ROAD COURSE
Another GARBAGE day for William Byron. The highlight was finishing 7th at the end of the second segment. He finishes 33rd. It was ugly! 03-puke

Sweet Willy B. Speed had a dominating win today in Miami. He started 31st and worked his way up to 4th at the completion of the first stage. He won the second stage. He drove away from the field in the final stage for the win. With the win, he is already locked into the playoffs at the end of the NASCAR season.

Solid racing by Byron thus far this season!

Since you track NASCAR closely, army56mike, what do you think it will take for Byron to break through for a second win? Will it take a particular type of track, a distance, or something else entirely?

He’s good on super speedways. So a Talladega or Daytona is a possibility. His win came on a mile and a half track and there are plenty of those left on the schedule. He’s just been so much more competitive this season. I think he’ll win another race or two this season.

Didn’t he get a new crew chief this year? Seems like he isn’t having the misfortunes he was having last season.

Yes, he has a new crew chief, Rudy Fugle. He was Byron’s crew chief in the NASCAR Truck series.

RICHMOND

If you could ever have a “hum-drum” Top 10 finish, William Byron achieved it today. He started 4th but fell back between 7-10 during the 1st Stage but finished it 4th. He finished the 2nd Stage in 8th and finished the race in 7th. It was a good Top 10 finish, but clearly his car was no better than 6-10.

Next week is sure to be exciting and a race anyone can win..... Talladega!

Byrons string of 8 Top 10s is the most since 2013.

2nd - Talladega
7th - Richmond
4th - Martinsville
6th - Bristol
8th - Atlanta
8th - Phoenix
8th - Las Vegas
1st - Miami
33rd - Daytona
26th - Daytona

Next week at Kansas should be a good run for him. I think he’ll be one of the favorites to win.

He really has been on a good run. Hopefully he doesn’t get caught up in any wrecks. At the end of the day if he stays out front he shouldn’t have to worry about that too much.
