Willy B Speed was leading the race with about 30 laps to go and got shuffled back to 20th place. He rebounded to finish 11th. He was competitive all day. Just couldn’t get into the position for the win at the end.

He is a good driver. He just seems to have horrible restarts and the pits are terrible.

POCONO 2:
Byron started in the back of the field and drove his way up to finish 7th. Good Top 10 finish.

He maintained his 15th position in the Championship chase.

04-rock Byron wins stage 1 of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

On a side note, there was a big crash in the pit lane rhat pinched a crew member between two cars.

Well, a day that started off great ended poorly. Byron blew a right front tire from the lead and ended the day 27th.

We’ll see what this does for his Championship standing. He may remain in the Top 16.

I’m starting to get worried he might get the boot from Hendrick if he can’t put together a full race. Idk if it is him driving too hard or the crew chief misreading it. His crew chief has had a lot of success in the past so I’m starting to wonder. It seems like his car is good enough pretty much every week for a top 10. Maybe he should just relax and build some confidence instead of going for the win every time.

RE: William Byron-NASCAR-Liberty U.
KENTUCKY:
Byron started 21st. He basically hung around that spot, give or take a few all day. He caught a caution flag and pit stop just right that put him inside the Top 10 toward the end of the race. With two laps left, coming off a caution flag, he was in seventh. But as the green flag waved he dropped to 11th to finish the race. Pretty disappointing day. He managed to remain 14th in point standings, but is truly 15th in the playoff race, since a driver below him won the race, automatically qualifying for the playoffs.

TEXAS:
Willy B Speed started the race middle of the pack and worked his way up to 5th place to finish the first stage of the race. It was all downhill from there. He finished the second stage mid pack and was involved in two wrecks, both of which he was hit by other cars. He was a DNF (Did Not Finish) and came in 37th overall. He took a serious hit in points and is now below the cutoff line with 8 races to go before the Championship rounds begin. He’s got a lot of work to do.

1. *Kevin Harvick
2. *Ryan Blaney
3. *Brad Keselowski
4. *Joey Logano
5. *Chase Elliott
6. *Denny Hamlin
7. *Martin Truex Jr.
8. Aric Almirola
9. Kurt Busch
10. Kyle Busch
11. *Alex Bowman
12. Matt DiBenedetto
13. Clint Bowyer
14. *Austin Dillon
15. Jimmie Johnson
16. William Byron
—————————————
22. *Cole Custer

* race winners automatically qualify for the 16 team Championship playoff.

Byron is now the first man out, only two points behind teammate Jimmie Johnson, but 36 behind Clint Bowyer.

KANSAS:
William Byron languished 20-24th place most of the night. With some great pit calls, and a car that was obviously set up to run at night in cooler temps he took over 1st place and ran out front toward the end of the race. He lost the lead on a restart, and then dropped a few more positions on the last restart. He really needed that clean air out front to be fast. He finished 10th. Good performance overall. And it moved him back into the playoffs.

1. *Kevin Harvick
2. *Brad Keslowski
3. *Ryan Blaney
4. *Denny Hamlin
5. *Chase Elliott
6. *Joey Logano
7. *Martin Truex Jr.

RE: William Byron-NASCAR-Liberty U.
Two races this weekend at Dover International Speedway. There are three races left until the playoffs start. William Byron is precariously hanging on to the 16th and final playoff spot. If a new driver outside the top 14 wins a race he’ll be bumped out. He has to have great finishes in the next three races to keep his position.

1. *Kevin Harvick
2. *Denny Hamlin
3. *Brad Keselowski
4. *Chase Elliott
5. *Ryan Blaney
6. *Joey Logano
7. *Martin Truex Jr.
8. Aric Almirolla
9. Kurt Busch
10. Kyle Busch
11. Clint Bowyer
12. *Alex Bowman
13. Matt DiBenedetto
14. William Byron
————————————-
18. *Austin Dillon
20. * Cole Custer

* Race winners who automatically qualify for playoffs

On a side note. I was surprised by how much Byron stuff I saw on campus. There is a big display in the Montview Student union and a large wall mural at The Commons where the post office is. Pretty cool stuff.

DOVER:
Well, that was disappointing. Byron was terrible all day long, ran at the back of the field, and finished 28th. With that horrible showing, he is now on the outside looking in on the playoffs. He is 3 points behind 16th place.
