I would be surprised if we get 1 of 2 against them. I think they are the cream of the crop in the American this year. Hope I'm wrong.

You'd be surprised if UC beat Houston at home? Come on. UC will almost surely be favored in that game.

Penny recruits like he has they'll be fine. Stop with that nonsense. I could coach Caliparis kids and make a run.

I rewatched the 2nd half of the game. It was an ugly war of attrition. We simply ground them down for the win.

Basically we wanted the win more they did. Under score pressure they actually missed.

I think Pastner was pulling in decent recruits, though nowhere near the level of Penny. He wasn't really cashing in.

Also, Calipari can't coach his own kids to make a run some of the time. It's a crap shoot in recruiting top-flite guys. Some of them are interested in being coached, and others are just wanting to burn through a year to get to the NBA.

I tend to agree, but LSU didn't even make the tournament with Ben Simmons, Washington was trash with Markelle Fultz, Texas was meh with Kevin Durant. It happens.

I’ll give you KD but that Texas team was solid like you said. Ben Simmons didn’t try in college (Probably why he went to LSU cause he didn’t wanna go 100%) and Markelle Fultz is trash (for number 1 overall pick). If you get the players to buy in for a year a la Calipari or now Mike at Duke it will work. Penny is also recruiting plenty of kids who won’t be gone after 1 year. I think they’ll be just fine.

Yeah, if you're a great coach like Coach K or Calipari and get stud one-and-dones to buy in, you're team will be good. But Penny isn't Coach K, and getting a top recruit like Simmons or Fultz doesn't guarantee a good team.

As I said, I think Penny will be fine, and I'm happy that Memphis looks like it should be good again. But I don't think it's a given, like some UC fans who have been really unhappy with Cronin's recruiting do.

Are there any updates on Eli's sprained ankle? He was jumping around around like a wild man at the end of the bench on Thursday night. He looked ready to play, if he didn't injure it further.

Go Bearcats!

Ben Simmons and Fultz were just individual talents on bad teams. Penny isn't just there to bring in Wiseman--Memphos is a hotbed of talent. He could bring in more five stars along the way and realistically reach Kansas levels of recruiting at an AAC school
