Second Round of bids for the RSNs that Disney must sell
Doesn't look like FOX will be buying them back so at this point, I have no idea if these transactions will even impact college sports, but I figured I'd post the latest update on the saga in case anyone can see a different angle.

From Awful Announcing:

Disney's sale of former FOX RSNs has three formal bids

Quote:Disney did attract second-round offers by Thursday’s deadline from potential buyers including Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., Apollo Global Management and Major League Baseball, according to people familiar with the sale process. But the proposals valued the remaining networks at roughly six to eight times earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, the people said.

That may mean the bids are closer to $10 billion — aside from the billions that the Yankees channel may bring.

The Yankees' YES Network will sell separately, but even if they are valued at $4 billion then there's an obvious difference between $14 billion and the $22 billion that Disney probably paid for them.

I'm interested in the MLB bid as it would be fascinating experiment if a professional sports league essentially owns not only the rights but the distribution platform for a significant portion of its own content.

All in all, looks like Disney really got screwed by the regulators here.

Look at the % of those losses to the annual earnings of Disney. They may have purchased a tax write off. I'm sure they didn't want to lose that much but the actual losses will be far less.
