The shocker fans are correct, you Memphis boys are DENSE.

Bearcats' two homing pidgeons about to make a landing.

Long before this article came out many of the Memphis fans talked about the problems with the scanners at the Liberty Bowl. We all saw the games on TV. No way the Liberty Bowl was only 1/3 full.

I've found it is a waste of time trying to change people's minds in 2018/19. Everybody has their opinions, and they are better than yours. But always remember... the last time I was in Cincinnati, this was their sign in front of their "school":

what year was that?

My phone says I took that picture on April 8th 2017.

What intersection is that? Maybe we can find it on Google Maps...

The graffiti on the columns in front of Lindner Hall are a particularly nice touch...

Looks like I was wrong - kind of surprised Cincinnati would use these low budget signs all around their campus, but here is the exact address from the picture above...

Besides the graffiti it looks like a nice area. There is a permanent sign behind the unneeded mobile sign. Weird.

For the record, I believe they put these up for traffic/parking garage information for games. They don't sit up 24/7 and 365.

Sounds familiar: "Athletic department officials, however, say the numbers they reported to the NCAA aren’t a full picture of the actual ticketed attendance in the 2018 season because faulty scanners, which were sensitive to the elements, and poor Wi-Fi connectivity forced event staffers to move large swaths of fans through the gates without recording their tickets into the system. No estimate was available for how many unscanned tickets were allowed into the stadium."

With that being said, it's still important to clarify that only the amount of tickets SOLD matters. If you packed the house, but all the tickets were given away, you suck. If no one shows up, but you sold out season tickets, you good.

again, those are marquees they use to direct traffic on game days.

This is the real sign:

Incorrect...as "announced" attendance includes a lot more than "tickets sold".

Announced attendance includes:
"Distributed tickets", which include many tix used by marketing and university depts as non-sold tix to boost attendance.

Point being...Mizzou did not sell 52,000 plus tickets for every game....as those announced figures include student attendance, trade-outs (free tix in exchange for sponsorships/marketing agreements, etc...), plus Univ owned tix used by a slew of departments (from marketing to athletics to administration to alumni assoc, etc...).

It's an excuse to deflect blame. Not every Mizzou game had bad weather which affected scanners. Everyone wants to make excuses, instead of owning up to their failures. Just once, I wish I would hear these people be honest that their actual attendance sucked and was nowhere near their announced. Like that will ever happen.

Why is it only those schools that have HUGE empty sections and zillions of no-shows the only ones with "falter" scanners...but the schools with more crowded stadiums & arenas don't seem to have those issues?
