Ok I'll say it. I don't care about FCS playoffs. They don't matter. I'd rather play ECU than Directional Louisiana U or Peripheral Hisorical Figure State.

Easy...easy there. We should care about FCS playoffs because that's the road to a national championship.

I would much rather win a FCS Championship than participate in the FBS Pity Party Bowl in Akron.

I'm indifferent when it comes to ****** bowl games v FCS playoffs. But I know for sure that I'd rather play ECU than either.

I know bowls and playoffs are better for programs and better for $$$. But as a fan the only things I care about is history, proximity, and name recognition.

It will have little effect on our playoff chances if we lose, would help our chances if we somehow win, garner additional funds for the program, bring back an old rivalry for a day, and is an FBS game we actually have a slim chance to win!

You totally missed the point. The ECU game is a done deal. I was "carping" on whether or not it is smart to always schedule 2 FBS games in 12-game seasons (as Tribe3455 implied would be the new normal). As far as having 2 FBS losses having little effect on our playoff chances --- I suggest you go back and research what happened to Austin Peay at the end of the 2017 season (even more tragic for them because they had been so historically bad before and, since then, have lost that coach; they might never get that close again).

I won't bother to spout the statistics on W&M's winning percentage against FBS teams. I'm sure that it is no better than 2 wins per decade and is probably closer to averaging 1 win per decade. Woo hoo, great when it happens but almost always it doesn't.

Rocco: the points I made about the playoffs apply any year. Tribe3455 said that the next 12 game season is in 2024. I hope we are scheduling more smartly by then. London will either have us as playoff regulars by then or he himself should be gone.

I implied nothing of the sort. I said 2 fbs games only make sense in a 12 game season. Stand by that. Truthfully, I hope our finances are such that we don't need 2 in 2024 and 2025. My point from the get go is that it seems Huge made a decision early on we needed one this year to pay for a new coach and all the new stuff that comes along with one. She made it happen. Good on her. If we don'tneed one in 2024 I hope we don't get one. Just as you said I think 8 wins is better than 7 and the likelihood of that is much higher with 1 FBS game (or none). I'm simply willing to state she did a good job this season.

I view it that we are playing two old nearby rivals, UVA and ECU, more than anything else. It's not as if we just added two random teams just because they are FBS.

RE: Tribe traveling to ECU this fall for football.
We should quit finding a reason to complain. We needed a 12th game and Huge got it for us against an old rival which we have a chance to beat combined with what I assume will be a good paycheck. It is silly to reach any long term conclusions from this one game that became available because VPI dropped ECU and created this open date for us to slide into.

London has a lot of talent to work with and the 7 win rule for IAA games went out the window these past two years with the new system for invites to the playoffs.

There's an AWESOME farm guest house on AirBNB in Tarboro that sleeps 6-8 people. We stayed there last season for our game @ECU & it was outstanding. PM me if you want name/details.

Sent the airbnb link to another poster last night, but saw afterward that reservations seem to be blocked beyond the end of April. Sorry for the false alarm. It was a really awesome place & dirt-cheap.
