Combined record for football and men’s basketball this year.
Military Bowl Championsions, AAC Conference Tournament Champions
For those that follow women’s basketball they are having a good season too and are still alive in WNIT.
Only thing missing is the crowning achievement which seemingly has been missing in UC Athletics since 1992. A Final Four and a New Year’s six bowl win.
Overall it’s hard to be consistent winners, one day I hope football and basketball get their moment that we have been waiting for. We have literally done just about everything else possible.
I believe our fanbase gets frustrated with post season disappointment but fails to realize how difficult it is to be good in major college football and basketball for the greater part of two plus decades, especially considering most of that time was spent outside the power structure.

Also worth noting that we had some unfortunate coaching turnover in both programs. I'm happy with having teams that are consistent winners, don't get me wrong. I'm as frustrated as anyone, but trying to see the good. Last year's tournament loss hurt way more. This year, it was in line with what I expected at the beginning of the year (an early NCAA exit). Winning the AAC tournament was a nice achievement for this team, despite our disappointment.

The Nevada loss and the 2002 loss to UCLA hurt because UC was controlling the majority of the game and let it get away. The heartbreaking losses came in games UC wasn’t actually controlling or with teams with limited ceilings. Kenyon’s injury is almost at another level.

Those who were not around for the 1963 Cincinnati-Loyola championship game don't know what heartbreak is.

Life was pretty damn good for UC fans in 1963. The basketball team had been in the Final Four in 59, 60, 61, 62, and 63 (with two national championships and one other appearance in the championship game). The football team won the Missouri Valley in 1963 (not to mention the Sid Gillman era was not that far off in the distant window).
There was a sign along Clifton Avenue that read "Avenue of Champions".
