As for the game, simply too many unfocused, unforced errors and unfortunate decisions, on both offense and defense.
We went 3-4 in our 5 of 7 at Home schedule. Let's see how the next 5 of 7 on the Road turns out. Time for our freshmen to show growth and our juniors to show leadership.
On to Wilmington.
We loved having the celebrity that is BillyMac join us in The Lair.

RE: MBB - Game 19 Elon
My two cents: This game is on Shaver. Maybe the players didn't execute his gameplan or whatever, the gameplan should have been make Elon stop Nathan and Justin first, then run the offense or something. We had at least the best player on the court, if not the best couple, and we ran through our "everyone is interchangeable", "pass around the perimeter" offense instead of making Elon stop our best. Consistently, we do not take advantages of mismatches, and do not adjust our offense to focus on getting mismatches. Seibring couldn't guard anybody on our team and he got to relax on defense. Stop pretending that anybody taking an open shot is better than getting the ball to Knight in the post. Change the scheme to maximize our strengths.

The frustrating part to me is that when we try to do exactly that ... that those are the games where Knight picks up two fouls in the first five minutes and then sits for the rest of the first half.

I've been saying this for weeks. We have the talent to win games but we have to be willing to change it up from a system that has yielded great success for us (especially last year).

Great, then we can fall back to our regularly scheduled offense. Pierce is the only one negatively affected by learning a play that you don't run without Knight. This is basketball, not rocket science.

This is a fair point. Last year's team was probably the best suited team we've ever had for running our regular offense. But this year's team is not at all the same as last year's team. Start implementing changes for next year right now. Only one senior is graduating and it shows the rest of the team you know what they can do, instead of hoping they can do what you want.

Our group would agree, plus a couple of the frosh appear to like to run.

RE: MBB - Game 19 Elon
2017-18: 177th in 3s attempted, 25.06 attempted 3s/game, made 43.4% (1st overall)
2018-19: 58th in 3s attempted, 25.42 attempted 3s game, made 33.3% (223rd overall)
Now, I'll concede that raw totals are misleading, because teams trailing will try to launch more 3s and W&M's trailed more this year than last. I don't think it's that misleading. The offense this year is like when a singer can't hit the high notes any more but keeps trying to do so rather than rework the songs to have notes he can hit. (I'm not a music person, so if I butchered the analogy I apologize to band geeks. Just know I feel the same when people misuse "circumstantial evidence".)

Those would be the "chorus geeks" my friend.
