Need a smallish, quick QB in the offense that runs a sub 4.5.

No you don't.

That’s the bonafides for that position. Sure, a different type could exceed, but it would be seriously bucking the trend.

Jaybo Shaw did not run anything remotely close to a 4.5

And that was the least explosive O we had from the first year of Monken until Summers.

Not 100% accurate.

Maybe less explosive from the QB position, but not really from a total offense perspective. 2011 was a really damn good offense, which built on 2010.

Without Jaybo we don't look anything as good as what we did that year. That was probably the most "complete" offense Monken had, with 12/13 being more skewed to running the ball and not really passing much. 14/15 were way more explosive, no doubt.

Jaybo was extremely important to us recovering from what had happened prior to 2010, and although he might not have been McKinnon or Ellison, he was really good at running the offense and getting yards when we needed them. Sometimes that's what you really need.

Geeze. Sucks for GSU. Maybe its just because we had out own coaching search/issues, but it seems like there was a lot of this, this year.

Is this happening more often or are we just hearing about it more?

Josh Gattis got 900k for the OC job at Michigan.

I'm sure at whatever off-field role he takes at UM it will pay more than any position coach at the G5 level.

I'm not sure Nate Woody even set a foot in his new office. He had been out on the road to recruit for us.

coaching update. Aairon Savage from Army is set to join Elliott's staff. Hope he can bring some of that physicality for our defense.

The mentality and physicality on that team comes from Monken.

#facts. But to be fair, it’s possible for someone on staff to learn other head coaching tendencies. It may only be effective when that person takes a HC or coordinator position...otherwise it’s possible that it conflicts with the ideals and tendencies of the actual person in charge.

Note that Savage was at Northern Iowa coaching DBs in 2018 after one year at Army as defensive QC.
