8th ranked NU has a big home-and-home series with UMass on the ice this weekend.

NU jumped up 4 sports to #8 in the latest USCHO poll after a weekend sweep of Maine up in Orono. Meanwhile, UMass jumped up 1 spot to claim the #1 ranking in the poll.

Friday night’s game game in Amherst is a sellout and Saturday night’s game at Matthews is approach a sellout. Friday’s game is on NESN and Saturday’s game will be on NESN Plus.

#8 NU split their home-and-home weekend series with #1 UMass, getting hammered 6-1 up in Amherst Friday and rebounding to win 2-1 in OT at Matthews Arena Saturday on Freshman Tyler Madden’s sweet goal.

NU stays 1 point behind UMass in the Hockey East standings (9-3-1) and is 15-5-1 overall.
