The pod home and away will be the most clusterfluckery thing we've ever seen. No one will be happy.

What it seems like reading this thread, is that most people are on board with this change, and it's really only you that isn't happy.

To be fair Duke was without 2 starters last night including starting PG.....Haven't heard "Orangemen" in a long time.....As far as pod system I am interested to see how it all works out....I am not sure either way but I am more of the line of thinking it doesn't really matter in the long run with humans on selection committee....Clearly we see the NET system is set up to reward the 9th place team in SEC over anyone in CUSA.....

It's bad. No one nationally cares if we beat other cusa programs, top or bottom of the league. They do notice when we lose to them. See MTSU sitting at home last season. Thats now almost guaranteed every season for any great team that happens to lose 1 in the pods and doesn't win the tourney, which the odds are vastly increased now. Terrible idea.

I think it's as most people said..

if C-USA stands pat, we're not getting multiple bids without some extraordinary play and results.

The pod system at least gives those borderline teams a SHOT to make some noise prior to conference tourney play.

Give me a "small chance" over "No chance" any day of the week.

Let me be clear...I'm glad the conference is being innovative. And I was totally for this until I actually put some thought into it. I think you'll see our "good" teams finish the year with more loses - which isn't a good thing and will defeat the purpose - possibly putting our best teams in a worse spot (if they would have had a 12th seed now they have a 14th). I also think it works against us having any hope of a second bid. Just my opinion. We shall see.

I can see this perspective. The only way it may help us is if the #1 and #2 seeds go through the final pod games with 0 or 1 loss to the #1 or #2 team.

It will help SOS which has been an issue recently. It also gives the top teams more games against quality competition which will make fans happy and increase ticket revenue. The only way this will hurt us is if we have a paper tiger that might sneak into an at larger with our old scheduling methods. If we have a team that is truly deserving of an at large they should go 3-1 at worst in the pod, which would help their chances with 3 more quality wins.

Let’s assume for the moment that we’re a “one-bid league” (fair assumption given recent history).

Now, with the current system WHOEVER wins the tourney (as long as they’re winning as a top 5 seed) will go into NCAA with a stronger SoS than they would have under the old system. Which *should* improve their NCAA seeding. That has been much more of a front-and-center stated goal of the new system, even more so than earning a second bid.

As far as the second bid... the last two or three CUSA teams that were truly at-large worthy, but snubbed, weren’t snubbed due to w/l record, it was clearly due to SoS. Will this do enough to change SoS to put a team like MTSU or ODU a few years back above the line instead of below? Possibly.

In any case it makes the battle for seeding down the line WAY more exciting as you’re not hoping for the guys you’re chasing for a 1 or 4 seed somehow lose to a bottom feeder in the last week so you can catch them. You’re playing them straight up and it makes every single game in the last round a compelling and potentially competitive matchup. Even for the bottom feeders scrambling for a 12 seed to make the tourney.

I don't think any of us did enough OOC this year to see how the pod scheduling could have helped. It MAY help get 1 seed higher than normal, maybe. Last year it could have possibly helped get Middle in and/or Marshall a 12 seed. I think that's the purpose but we might not see the fruits of it because none of us are currently ranked high enough in the NET for it to make a difference THIS year.

I see it going for at least 2 more years.

Exactly on the higher seed. Whoever comes out of this should end up with a higher seed in the tournament. If we can get a 12 seed or better then we have a much better chance of winning at least 1 game (gives us 2 NCAA Tournament Units and a LOT of money.)

I think MTSU last year and ODU a few years ago would have gotten the At Large had they taken care of things in the Pod before losing in conference tournament.

Here's the thing with the pod system vs. the old system. The old system NEVER produced at-large bids. In a world where it's all or nothing, the old system NEVER worked. The pod system in theory increases the odds of the top team getting an at-large if they finish 3-1 or 4-0 over the old system quite considerably.

WKU had enough solid wins to have a chance but we forgot to beat the teams we were supposed to beat...

I really don’t think this “pod” junk is going to matter a hill of beans. What will matter is winning OOC. The committee is going to put us where they want us. Nothing more, nothing less.

Herd1 is one of the people who just screams to be heard, and complains to complain.

Since he can’t complain about the team’s 3-0 start in league play, he’s move on to find something else to scream and freak out about.

It’s really a sad existence because even valid points get lost in the noise.

I like it. Coming into conference play we weren't likely to get two in this year regardless. In a different year it may help. At the very least hopefully it'll help get a better seeding for our champ.

This was probably the year to get an at large bid if we were to ever get one....Pac12 sucks, A-10 is way down....

I think theres truth to this. At large bids are made with the OOC record. No matter what, if you're a CUSA team you cant lose more than 3 conference games and get an at large bid.

UCF beat UConn

UConn beat Syracuse

Syracuse beat Duke

Even better...keep going...

I have no idea why anyone could crap on the pod idea.

It’s brilliant.

This is the perfect year to try it out, with possibly 10 teams all capable of placing in pod 1.

The madness to fight your way in is gonna be glorious.

Simply put. There are many things to get upset or get down about concerning CUSA leadership. This is not one of those things.

It rewards the fans with exciting games. I’m really excited we have the chance to host WKU or Marshall again. It will build rivalries too.
