Had COVID-19 not intervened, we could have gone places last year, but no looking back. Looking ahead, the ladies have places to go and people to beat. I look forward to seeing now this team develops.

I think the combo of Diouf & Tucker down low could be our key to advancing in the NCAA’s when we come up against P7 size. Excited to see if we put that two-big lineup out even when unnecessary just to acclimate the team.

Kenny's team lost by 4 to #2 Louisville last night.

Perhaps the best performance by any of his teams.

Congratulations to Kenny, tonight he brought home the first ACC Championship to VT and in the process became the first black HC to win the ACC Championship. I imagine a lot of us expected him to do well, but there's a real chance VTs a #1 seed on Selection Sunday, I didn't see it going THAT well. One of the best damn Dukes of all time.

Now, the board can get back to VT bashing....

Awesome to see Kenny making history! It takes a lot for me to be happy about anything good happening to VT, but very happy for Kenny.

Ditto - very happy for him. They’ve played their way out of a possible VT-JMU matchup though. I don’t know what our seed will be if we make it, but I know it won’t be 16.
There are some pretty bad takes on this thread. I only skimmed so I’m hoping none of them are mine. 05-footinmouth

RE: Is Kenny Brooks on the hot seat?
I started this thread at a time when Kenny's teams had a history of great starts, and then getting hammered in the ACC schedule.

So, the question was, can he ever field a team that can handle the ACC schedule--which is brutal, and usually more difficult top to bottom than the men's.

And the answer, four years after I started the thread, is yes.

You would have to say it's early, but he's definitely thrown down the gauntlet for the claim of being one of the best coaches in women's college basketball. They're not South Carolina, UConn or Stanford yet--or even ODU (natty in 1985)--but they've made a statement.

The challenge now is to at least make a Sweet 16 or Elite Eight appearance this month. That's really the minimum a one seed has to do to avoid being called overrated. I'm sure Kenny has the team shooting for the Final Four.

Whit Babcock usually gives coaches a long leash (unless you're destroying the football team) and Kenny certainly benefited from that.

For the record, I mostly posted this in this thread because it was the first one that popped up when I searched for 'Kenny Brooks'. I wanted to avoid starting a new thread. It wasn't meant as a slight to the posters in this thread. Although it seems it provides evidence of why it's okay for ADs to be patient as you mentioned.

Oh, no offense taken! Smart posting on your part. Just saying why I started it four years ago. And Kenny has answered my questions.

I realize he's the VT coach, but he was our coach for a good while, he's Coach O's mentor, and he was a really hard-working, fan favorite player while at JMU. Local guy, too (Waynesboro). Coach Brooks kept the tradition of winning from Shelia Moorman to Coach O intact. Kenny will always be special to us Dukes of a certain age!

To whoever started the thread 7 pages ago---worst to championship in 7 years? I kinda don't think so! Bite your tongue while you eat your words!

(FWIW, I didn't want him to go there either because I thought it was a sink. He made me eat my words!)

A lot of the "questions" sound like some of the criticisms lobbed at Coach By here also. Turning around a program takes time, it doesn't happen in one or two seasons.

Enjoyed watching the post game on the ACC Network yesterday.

Such a class act.
