RE: 2019 Season Teckets question
I personally think Texas fans are pretty tame in the big scheme of flagship state schools.

Without a doubt they are tame; there is no issue of them being mistaken for English football fans on a French coast jaunt.

They are like kind of like gophers. Onesies they are kind of laughable and cute. And highly aggravating when a whole raft of them mass up.

The issue for me isnt that they are mean, rude, etc. It is just that when you live in Austin they look at you like you are daft when you *dont* swoon over the T-Sips. It just grates after a while.

The looks I get from friends who offer me tickets and I say 'I really dont want to go to UT v WVA, I could care less about either team. I would prefer to watch the Rice v whomever game on Network De Jour' is one of "I have heard that people like you exist. Bless your little heart."

Hmm. I guess I’ve had a different experience than you.

I go to a few Texas games every year and Rice is one of the few in-state schools they respect.

But hey, maybe we run with different crowds.

Oh, they certainly do respect Rice in one aspect, no doubt. My neighborhood is nothing but a sea of burnt orange flags all fall; three burnt orange cars in the 15 or so immediate neighbors; and two sets of solid burnt orange Christmas light displays.

The neighbors are absolutely awesome, dont get me wrong. They just really dont understand why any Texan wouldnt, at their soul, be UT fans. And the events I *have* been to in the last 4 years since moving back to Texas are just that --- but with just a lot more of them.

And the funny thing is that probably only 25 per cent of the Orange Show houses in the neighborhood actually sport a T-Sip living in a house.

My neighborhood in Austin: https://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2013/12/...ut-of-tree

This was originally carved back in 2013, it's acquired a nice patina since then, I'll see if I can get a current photo. Honestly impressed that it hasn't been vandalized in the last five years.

I find this moderately disturbing on more than one level.
