WKUYG, Army won't be as good, neither will MSU or Troy. Arkansas might improve some. Louisville will be middle of the pack, at best, in the ACC. Yes, USM should have a better record than WKU OOC. We have more returning and should be a darkhorse in the West division.

What? Troy is loaded and I really don’t think the coaching change is going to be THAT much of a factor.

Interesting that this year has 2 bye weeks. We don't play our 2 crossover games until the final 2 weeks of the season. I like how our bye weeks are set up to where we play 5 games then a bye, 3 games then a bye, then finish with 4 games to end the regular season. And thank goodness we avoid a home game Thanksgiving weekend for a third straight year

8/31 - Alcorn St
9/7 - @ Miss St
9/14 - @ Troy
9/21 - @ Alabama
9/28 - UTEP
10/5 - bye week
10/12 - North Texas
10/19 - @ La Tech
10/26 - @ Rice
11/2 - bye week
11/9 - UAB
11/16 - @UTSA
11/23 - WKU
11/30 - @FAU
12/7 - CUSA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Odds of a 1-3 start are probably 80%

MSU is replacing their entire defensive line and their starting QB. They aren't going to be as good as the 2018 team. Troy is replacing their entire coaching staff. That will really hurt them. We bring a lot of people from last year. MSU will be favored at their house, but like I said they won't be nearly as good as their 2018 team.

Its been 30 years since S. Miss beat Miss St
Troy is replacing their coach so that might play a role but they have talent and more than likely who ever they hire will be a better head coach than Barny Rubble
As far as Bama we both know how that ends as soon as it was scheduled

As I said the odds are probably 80% S. Miss starts the season 1-3
The odds of S. Miss going 4-0 vs Western's OOC schedule would be about 98%

This has nothing to do with Western but since you want to make it a us or them...

Western didn't have a talent problem last yea. It was a coaching problem so there's still a question about that. The one thing I'm 100% sure of...the new coach is not as bad as Boy Idiot

Since you think S. Miss should be a dark horse in the west tell me the last time a "dark horse" won 3 games in OOC when two of them where road SEC games and 3 out of 4 on the road? S Miss's offense has got progressively worse the farther you got away from Monken ...

I dont see that changing

Since we are just making stuff up, S Miss has a 50% chance of going 3-1 and 75% chance going 2-2.

S Miss will be better than last season and Troy/MSU will not be as good as last season. Bama could beat S Miss with their 3rd stringers.

Not if they played like they did Monday night (which, of course, they won't)

Correct but beating a P5 even a weak one is not something any of us do often. Hell I didn't even say S. Miss would most likely go 1-3 as something negative towards S. Miss...

most of us would probably end up 1-3 or 2-2 at best with 2 SEC schools, one of the strongest SBC...all on the road.

Western might be 1-3 OOC but at least our OOC games are spread out during the season. So there's a chance of gaining some confidence early on. That was my thinking on S. Miss's schedule...hard to get confidence or the arm chair fans with that schedule... Well unless you win.

What moron in the conference office cannot get it through their head to STOP DOING CROSSOVER GAMES IN THE FINAL 2 WEEKS?? BOTH of ours are that way. Sets up a potential repeat only days later and kills any chance of attendance. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

With 7 schools in the East and 7 in the West there has to be at least 1 crossover game the final week unless a team has a bye week and another has an OOC game. But i agree for us or any team to have both crossover games the final 2 games is pretty moronic.

Not sure about that. Both Charlotte and Marshall have no Bye week or OOC the last two weeks.

Nine bowl teams from last year. Rebuilding will be tough.

And you won’t be given two FCS freebies like the Sunbelt teams. You guys need to up the budget an entire stable of quality coaches.

RE: 2019 football games with dates announced
Southern Miss fans would rather lose to a P5 than beat a G5 out of conference. We have always wanted to play against the best. It's the only thing that will energize our fan base. Games against Troy, South Alabama, Memphis, Tulane, or Houston will never compare with games against Florida St., Alabama, Nebraska, or Penn St. We want to play the best.
Southern Miss fans are a different breed.

I said the best... not sure how you got to Kentucky from there. They're P5, but they're Kentucky.

well I think the attendance numbers shows that not true...

22k for a P5 SEC team and 28k for UNCC and 29k for a FCS team.

Lets be honest the last time S. Miss played FSU or Penn St.....

most USM fans have no recall of playing "the best" not unless most are around 50 years old if they were in college at that time
