UTSA is 2-0 in CUSA

So pod assignment is determined by conference record only? I don't know if I like that. The entire body of work should be considered

So if UTSA schedules 15 D2 teams in the non-conference that should count towards the pods? Utilizing exclusively conference records has always been what C-USA, and really any conference I can think of, has used to determine conference tournament seeing. Since these pods are just an extension of choosing conference tournament seeding, I don't see why they wouldn't just use the conference record.

RPI isn't even considered by the selection comittee anymore...why would that be a criteria?

What other conference uses RPI as a metric in any of their standings decisions, outside of tiebreakers?

The pods are determined by conference record as they should be.

What do you guys predict the magic number will be to get into Pod 1? I lean towards 9 league wins at the moment.

Ummm. Conference play is all that matters for the PODs, yes. And rightfully so. That way cupcake schedules aren't rewarded.

RE: Pod Racing
Not sure why there's so much confusion. It's the same in football and all our other sports. Your record in conference determines your conference standing, and the reason is because it's the closest we can get to comparing results against common opponents. MTSU won C-USA East because of their 7-1 conference record, even though their 8-6 record overall wasn't as good as Marshall's and FIU's who both finished 9-4. The NET rating comes into play for national ranking, but for conference ranking it's conference play.

Great question. I would say 9 is a great guess. I think 10 would guarantee a spot. I think 9 would get you in most years.

Does anyone know the tie breaker rules for a 3 way tie where the 3 teams all beat each other. Team A beats B, Team B beats C, but then Team C beats A.....and lets say they all finish 8-6 and this is for the 5th spot?

I would assume highest RPI... so that the top RPI teams (Or rather NET ranking, if that's what hte committee is using now) play one another

That’s a very good question regarding the tie breaker. Right now we have three teams tied for the final two spots in pod 1.

Okay that makes sense. For example, UNT has an incredible record, but it may be a result of beating poor competition.

It seems like we are seeing some teams drop games we expected them to win. I could see an 8 win team sneaking into Pod 1.
